Albuquerque NM Limbaugh megastion 770 KKOB is promoting a Tea Party protest at the New Mexico capitol in Santa Fe on Tuesday, September 6, at 10AM. And starting at 7AM (MST) Sunday morning (tomorrow) the station is taking calls and a couple of NM teabagger organizers will be on hand to take questions.
It’s possible that the station will screen out long distance calls (unless they come from an out of state think tank). It’s the local weekend morning host, Terry (sp?) Q. Sayre, who often does the requisite innocuous local community programming like pet adoption, restaurant ratings, etc. But she’s a teabagger, like most of the talkers on that station.
Details of the rally are below, from the NM teabagger site. Their printable poster calls it a WE THE PEOPLE rally to insist that "illegal immigrants" cannot have drivers licenses, that voters HAVE photo ID, that NM extractive industries be free from EPA regulation, and de-regulation of businesspeople.
KKOB (
http://www.770kkob.com/... ) does 15 hours a week of Limbaugh, 10 of Sean Hannity, as well as Michael Savage at night. It also does University of New Mexico Lobos sports, which gives the station credibility and probably brings in a lot of ad money.
When Karl Rove wanted to work the local teabagger dittoheads into a frenzy to pressure state attorney general David Iglesias into investigating NM ‘voter fraud’ by democrats he used the local blowhards. When the Arizona fires were blowing smoke over NM and people were talking about global warming, KKOB local host Jim Villanuchi made sure fossil fuels shills got plenty of guest air time to deny global warming. It’s the same station that has spent years pushing fear, hate, anti immigration, making excuses for George Bush, attacking Iraq, swiftboating Gore and Kerry, and so on. Like most other RW radio stations they are well coordinated by the RW think tanks.
Here’s a link to the NM teabag operation....
http://wethepeoplenm.com/ where you will find this announcement, and in typical teabagger style, spelling the blowhard's name in two different ways:
"Terry Q. at KKOB invited Therese Cooper and Sylvia Bokor
to come again tomorrow, Sunday, September 4 for another interview.
Today, Saturday, Sept 3, we had a lot of very good calls and comments with
some wonderfully intense discussion about driver’s licenses for
illegal immigrants and the Sept. 6 Rally.
Tomorrow Sylvia plans to expand on the damage that the law allowing driver’s
licenses for illegal immigrants is doing to New Mexico on two fronts: The threat
to citizen’s security that threatens our well-being, and the enormous welfare
expenses that are draining New Mexicans’ pocketbooks.
Tune in and join the discussion: Weekends with Terrie Q. Sayre on 770 KKOB; Call-in numbers: 243-3333 or 800-460-0770"
Here are a few excerpts from the UNM mission statement:
"The mission of The University of New Mexico is to serve the educational needs of the citizens of the state, and those of the nation and world."
“to create, interpret, apply, and accumulate knowledge.”
"The University Health Sciences Center is a valuable resource to New Mexico. Added value is provided to health care through leadership in providing innovative, collaborative education; advancing the frontiers of science through research critical to the future of health care; delivering health care services that are at the forefront of science; and facilitating partnerships with public and private biomedical and health enterprises."
And the mission statement of UNM athletics:
"Integrity - We are honest, respectful, and accountable."
"Respect - We value the importance of diversity, fairness, goodwill and sportsmanship."
Seems a little hypocritical of the university.
And if you know anyone in NM in the area that might like to counterprotest......
