Bad news for PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) hikers: Shadow Lake Fire
The Shadow Lake Fire has close the PCT from OR-242 to the Santiam Pass. Avoid that stretch this weekend. And check for recreation area closures near the Sisters/Mt. Washington areas.

Meanwhile, 165,000+ acres burn in central Oregon with high spread potential this weekend. I'll link a useful wild-land fire tracking site below (InciWeb), before my pics. Click on your state in the pull-down in the upper right for wildfire info.

1. My neighbor just turned me onto that site a couple of days ago.
He's climbing at Smith Rock this weekend.

Since the temperatures are going up for the next week on my side of the Cascades, I would imagine things are going to get a lot hotter where you are.

You and Nick take care. Thanks again for the pics!

2. In the bottom picture, the one with the frost...
There is something funny looking in the upper right quadrant. It looks like a gray and white striped sausage with a raccoon hiding under it.

What is it?

3. I'm guessing it's a tree stump.
But it could be a gray and white striped sausage with a raccoon hiding under it.

Oregon is a crazy place.

4. Yep, it's a crazy place all right...
But mainly west of the Cascades!

Cheers!

6. Tree stump cut at two levels with some bark left on the lower front
The two levels make three horizontal stripes, the bark makes an irregular vertical striping.

8. My dear DemoTex!
Damn, I'm too late to recommend!

But I can still kick, so that others can see these glorious pictures...

Thank you so much for them.
