Appeasement Doesn't Work. Never Has, Never Will.
Obama's approach to the GOP thus far will NOT elicit Republican co-operation. On anything. Nor will it re-energize the independents who voted for him in 08.

I'll shut up now, since I'm new here. Thank you for reading this. :-)

2. Appeasement can be passed off as compromise
If the other party meets you half-way and adheres to their end of the bargain.

But even that is dependent on your side having principles. I'm sorry but I don't think the president has any principles beyond the politically expedient. I do NOT believe he is a closet-capitalist or anything so nefarious. I think he wants good things but lacks the required leadership to get it so he seeks the path of least resistance.

7. ...but it worked so well for Neville Chamberlain.
President Obama holding aloft his "Budget Deal" with the Republicans

Oops.
My Bad.
That isn't President Obama.
That is Neville Chamberlain holding aloft his Non-Aggression "Peace in Our Time" Deal with NAZI Germany,
and ALL he had to give up was most of Eastern Europe,
but those with Pre-Existing Conditions could NOW buy insurance.
Oops. Confused again.

President Obama will share a page with Neville Chamberlain in the History Books.

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

Solidarity!
