What the GOP is doing is rolling blackouts of government
next target is the United States Postal Service...

Per MSNBC they will shut down in the Fall...

They tried the let's shut all the government once and backfired, now if this works and keeps angry people home...

Why am I seeing this?

Sooner or later the law of unintended consequences has to come into play and angry people do what none expect angry people to do.

1. The Post Office is funded by postage stamp sales only.
The Government does not fund the USPO.

2. I know but they are in trouble due to a law passed in 2006
by the US Congress. If that law is removed they will be in the black thank you very much.

They are the ONLY AGENCY or COMPANY that has to fund FUTURE RETIREES, not yet in the ROLLS...

3. Truth is not as important as perception.
People still believe that the US Postal Service is a government operation. And people would still see a shutdown of the postal service as a failure of the government (which I would agree with). If the government could bail out mega-banks and private corporations, then a service that is so vital must be saved from failure. You can make it a quasi-private company, but it still isn't private.

4. Quasi private is the best way
and they still need to get their rate increases in stamps approved by Congress as well.
