In the wake of Irene, and before Lee's ghost arrives.
Here are some scenes from Vermont.

4. You could be in for a very rough winter.
If the rains continue and you're unable to repair the roads before the first big snows, VT could have a nightmare scenario.

5. All I could think of (plus how beautiful Vermont is)
was how many people could be employed repairing the roads bridges and buildings destroyed or damaged by these flood waters.

Of course the funds for the repairs would have to be approved by the guy who seems to be in charge when it comes to spending money in the US.

This shitweasel, God's FEMA Director, Eric Cantor:

6. Makes me wonder if there will be anything left of this country.
How many crops in how many different states have been destroyed? This is our food security washing away in New England and burning up in Texas. And let's not forget the Mississippi and Missouri rivers this year.

7. Nature is so incredibly powerful. :^( I've had my fingers crossed that
storms would stay away so they can dry off and work on repairs. Glad Katia went away. Now the rest of them need to follow her.

8. How long is it going to take to repair those roads
and put Vermont back together again?

The nicest times I ever spent were in Vermont.

10. Vermont is doing OK. Yes, it's rough. Yes, a lot of people are hurting but
state government and FEMA have been FANTASTIC. And Vermonters in many small towns have taken matters into their own hands and performed road and even bridge repairs themselves. The biggest problem is infrastructure repair before snow flies in just a couple of months.
