Dennis Kucinich calls for Ohio union busting bill to be ‘crushed’

By Eric W. Dolan
Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) called for the repeal of Senate Bill 5 on Monday during a speech at the AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade in Parma Heights, OH.

“Senate Bill 5 needs to be defeated,” he said. “But not just defeated, it needs to be crushed.”

The new law restricts the collective-bargaining rights of public employees. The pro-labor coalition We Are Ohio delivered nearly 1.3 million signatures to the Secretary of State’s office in June to repeal it, placing the law on the November 8 ballot.

“And let me tell you,” Kucinich continued,” the fundamental rights in a democratic society are that workers must have a right to organize, must have a right to collective bargaining, must have a right to strike, must have a right to decent wages and benefits, must have a right to a secure retirement, and those rights are being taken away in this state of Ohio.”

2. Agreed and if Ds want to keep their union funding...
...we'll see more of this. I know my Congresswoman, Betty Sutton, in Ohio's 13th dist., is a former union organizer and vocal critic of the right wing agenda.

5. The Dem reps from Ohio and the state gov't are probably all on board.
The national Democratic party, not so much. A little too hands-off for my taste.

4. Four years ago he wasn't on my radar

Today I'd vote for him for President. He has one issue I don't agree with, but I can live with it.

K&R!
