Bumper sticker messaging.
This may be a totally stupid post, and I'll likely regret posting it, but does anyone else think the left could benefit from short soundbite style messages. I've heard Thom Hartman say a few times that one of the reasons the Right is so successful is because they have a good message strategy. So do you all think we could benefit from coming up with a few short soundbite messages and putting them on bumper-stickers and the like, just short messages that sort of summarize our views? Kind of like slogans I guess. I've got one in mind, feel free to add more. Here is mine: "Socialism: It was good enough for Einstein"

1. We need to attract people from the left end of the right wing, independents, undecideds...
I don't think that "Socialism: It was good enough for Einstein" is going to help with that.

Better, I think, to use facts, to appeal to the middle class and working person (and unemployed person).

"Socialism" is just not going to sell any of them to our candidates.

sry.

5. Love THAT one...
You can even use the "not equal to" sign and "dollar" sign to make it fit.

4. It would not hurt at all
to have effective bumper sticker messaging.

But I honestly don't think "Socialism: It was good enough for Einstein" is a good message. For one thing, it requires a lot of explaining. As in: Really? I had no idea Einstein was a socialist. I knew he was Jewish and moved to this country in the 1930's, I think to escape Hitler. See what I mean? It raises more questions than it answers.

Back during the first W administration, I had some bumper stickers made up. My best one was: He wasn't elected on 9/11 either. That's obviously much too dated to use these days.

6. It needs to be simple... like
"Renewable Energy is Homeland Security"

I got this from a Google search hit of bumper stickers. Believe it or not, they had one that said, "Rejecting Socialism is not Racism... It's Patriotism" I'm sure that's a message all the tea baggers get.
