18. IMHO, from what I see, I think it's mostly the other way around, actually.

On the one hand, you have the Dems(at least the non-DINO ones) who are really afraid of pissing off their base(yes, the real base, not the radical left or the 'Professional Left', but rather, centrist left-leaning moderates, and actual liberal progressives) while trying to keep moderates happy, while on the other hand, most of the Repubs, it seems,(with the possible exception of some RINOs) view the majority of their base(especially those who lean more towards the center) as nothing more than a bunch of useful idiots whose only purpose is to keep them in office, and in power.

look even worse. which is why he is getting the really low numbers. bush on the other hand even though his supporters where totally pissed off never said so in public.

I know, i know, repugs are a bunch of followers who can't think on their own, and dems are a independent lot (which is why you didn't get the public option), who are free thinkers that speak out on the issues. but that freedom is what is dragging him down whether you like it or not that is the issue.

5. He's counting on a lot of nose holding from the electorate and "not as bad" politics.

It usually works...if the economy is OK and not too many kids aren't coming home in boxes. It may work this time because the Republicans seem to be insisting on running candidates from the barking mad wing of their party and "at least I'm not crazy" is a plausible, if pathetic, selling point.

23. true. there are many variables that will come into play. who his opponent is, and what the

unemployment percentage is, are two very important factors. Unemployment really needs to get down in the 7's, because they don't even count people that have given up in those figures, and, if it's Perry as his opponent (or Bachmann or even Palin for that matter) then all he needs is a slight improvement and I think the Dems take back the House and re-elect Obama.
