I am not surprised by that. In fact they will continue to be reflooded until they dry out... from the maps and all that, it ain't looking that way for a while.

5. I'm sitting here in Jersey listening to the rain fall

My sattelite tv went out an hour ago. Fortunately I'm not near a major river but those poor people who live along the Passaic are going to get hit again.

Sorry Texas. We'd really like to send you some of our rain but that damn storm will not cooperate!

8. Friends of mine in NY and Wilkes-Barre, PA getting flooded tonight

Lots of evacuations, one friend has a foot of water in the basement and is hoping it doesn't get higher!

14. I'm near Wilkes-Barre but on top of a mountain.

We're in no danger of river flooding where I live but the entire Susquehanna River valley is in dire straits. It's reminiscent of flooding from Hurricane Agnes in 1972.

Here in lower Luzerne Co. we're had over 5 inches of rain since Sunday night. The ground was already saturated by the rain Irene left for us so there's no room for more. We've had some seepage in the basement but the sump pump is handling it. All the area schools are closed due to the flooding of creeks that flow into the Susquehanna. There are so many area roads that are impassable there's no way to get all the kids to school. If I could send some of this rain to Texas I'd do it in a heartbeat. We really need the rain to stop.

11. Several New York State counties declared state of emergency

Got a message in my Facebook feed from my college (in the Catskills, central part of the state) that ALL roads in the county (Otsego) were closed, and they were putting up professors and other workers who couldn't get home. Flash flooding in Chenango County and Delaware County as well. :(

13. We've gotten about 6 inches in the last two days here in SE Pennsylvania

Luckily we're not in a flood plain -- but some of the towns along the Delaware are getting swamped. I'm sure it's even worse in Jersey as the rain moves on through.

And the forecast gives us 90% chance of rain again tomorrow, 50% on Friday, and 40% on Saturday.

Usually Septembers around here are mild and dry. So what gives?
