1. one time The Daily Show writers borrowed something I penned here
...the joke fell flat on the show. It was in reference to the Apollo Theater, I don't think many in the audience got the reference.

I'm sure TDS and TCR have staffers that read DU -- He stole a joke from me a few years back when Oral Roberts made the NCAA tournament: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=4888013

Congrats!

3. Huh?
That is the quote on the statue.

The inscription reads: I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness.

King delivered the full quote in question on Feb, 1968, two months before he was assassinated. “If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice,” King told the congregation at Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church. “Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter.”

So, I guess I don't just don't get what it is that Colbert stole from ya ???

4. The super abbreviation which loses all context. Turning it from
“If you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice,” King told the congregation. “Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter.”

into

Why not go further still and just say

"I was a drum major."

See my link above.

I'm trying to figure out how to get a screen shot using my new PVR. I recorded tonight's show.
