Is Sarah Palin the DeLorean of today?
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 11:19 PM by cynatnite
A short-lived interest that didn't get that great of reviews in the first place. In the future, she'll be regarded no differently than the padded shoulders and big hair of the 80's...a fad that most are ashamed to acknowledge.

4. A Hummer might have been appropriate, too...
Edited on Wed Jan-12-11 11:51 PM by cynatnite
You can have your choice of a used Hummer for less than 10k here in the south. Those and Ford Excursions are way out of style.

10. LOL, I thought you said 'hummer'
definition: hummer

I hear they're about $50 here in SoCal; I think it's $5 and a dog bisquit in Wasilla.

5. Deloreans were only very superficially cool.
"Oooh, gullwing doors..." and that's about it.

8. With a 0-60 time over 10 seconds, you know how long that took
and how much runway you needed? A Dodge Caravan is probably faster.

They were a damn cool car to drive.

Not as sweet as an Audi S-4 though. :)

Both equally horrible. Cool to look at, yes. Cool to sit in, yes. Cool to drive, no.

19. I used to drive all kinds of classic cars for my job.
It wasn't best car I drove (see the Audi), or the coolest car I drove (see the Dodge Superbee), but it was a damn cool car, and if the maker wasn't a coke fiend we'd still see them on the road. You may not have had fun driving one, but I sure did! :)

21. I drove exotics as a favor to a buddy.
And the Delorean was shit. It was slow and stupid. Power sucked, suspension sucked. To this day, Delorean is little more than an embarassment.

Overpriced, underpowered and worthless. Welcome to being the new Hyundai Accident, Delorean.

I do agree on the suspension thing! The thing handled like a can of soup. It got me laid though....

20. I drove my BIL's DeLorean a few times during the 80s
Edited on Thu Jan-13-11 01:02 AM by Urban Prairie
He managed to meet John, and later asked, and had him sign the interior of the car on its glovebox.

The very tiny portion of its gull-wing doors' windows that could only be partly opened made me feel a bit claustrophobic.

But it was a breeze to wash and dry, after being stored all winter, due to its brushed stainless steel body. No polish or waxing was necessary.
