Florida: Link to 9/11 hijackers found in Sarasota never revealed....SHOCKING!
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 04:13 AM by mfcorey1
ust two weeks before the 9/11 hijackers slammed into the Pentagon and World Trade Center, members of a Saudi family abruptly vacated their luxury home near Sarasota, leaving a brand new car in the driveway, a refrigerator full of food, fruit on the counter — and an open safe in a master bedroom.

In the weeks to follow, law enforcement agents not only discovered the home was visited by vehicles used by the hijackers, but phone calls were linked between the home and those who carried out the death flights — including leader Mohamed Atta — in discoveries never before revealed to the public.

Ten years after the deadliest attack of terrorism on U.S. soil, new information has emerged that shows the FBI found troubling ties between the hijackers and residents in the upscale community in southwest Florida, but the investigation wasn’t reported to Congress or mentioned in the 9/11 Commission Report.

Former U.S. Sen. Bob Graham, the Florida Democrat who co-chaired the congressional Joint Inquiry into the attacks, said he should have been told about the findings, saying it “opens the door to a new chapter of investigation as to the depth of the Saudi role in 9/11. ... No information relative to the named people in Sarasota was disclosed.”

Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 03:00 AM by defendandprotect
I'd add tens of millions to the Clinton/Whitewater investigation which the RW

was financing -- the Arkansas project went on years!!

And never heard a report lower than $70 million for the "blow job" investigation --

Took Bush more than a year and a half to agree to an investigation ---

then he tried to appoint Kissinger -- !!

Then I think Keating took over and RESIGNED? --

And then they settled on Kean --

By the spring of 2003, the commission was off to a slow start, needing additional funding to help it meet its target day for the final report, of May 27, 2004.<6> In late March, the Bush administration agreed to provide an additional $9 million for the commission, though this was $2 million short of what the commission requested.<7> The first hearings were held from March 31 to April 1, 2003, in New York City.<8>

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9/11_Commission

Amount of money allocated for the 1986 Challenger disaster investigation: $75 million
Amount of money allocated for the 2004 Columbia disaster investigation: $50 million
Amount of money allocated for Clinton-Lewinsky investigation: $40 million
Amount of money allocated for the 9/11 Commission: $14 million
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=49d_1190054204

What is the Commission's budget?
Public Law 107-306 provided for the reprogramming of $3 million for the Commission. Congress subsequently appropriated, and the President signed into law, an additional $11 million appropriation for the Commission. Recent legislation authorized an additional $1 million, bringing the Commission’s total budget to $15 million.

The Commission is confident that it can fulfill its mandate with this amount. We appreciate very much the support of Congress and the President for this level of funding.

10. Here's a couple of paragraphs that make you go hmmmmm.....
The Inquiry did nevertheless accumulate a “very large” file on the hijackers in the United States, and later turned it over to the 9/11 Commission. “They did very little with it,” Graham said.

The final 28-page section of the Inquiry’s report, which deals with “sources of foreign support for some of the Sept. 11 hijackers,” was entirely blanked out. It was kept secret from the public on the orders of former President George W. Bush and is still withheld to this day, Graham said.

The grounds for suppressing the material, Graham believes, were “protection of the Saudis from embarrassment, protection of the administration from political embarrassment.

attacking a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Remember before 9/11 little boots met with the taliban, I believe, on his pig farm. Two french journalists wrote that they were given an ultimatum, "a road of gold or bombs." Also, we gave them about 23 million dollars to allegedly not grow poppies. What a farce. I believe the poppy trade is thriving, it reminds me of the golden triangle during vietnam and who made big bucks off of that? Wasn't Enron involved in the future pipeline going through Afghanistan. And, the * administration appointed Karzai, someone, I believe, who worked for the oil corps.

29. The blanked out part could have referred to Katherine Harris.

Harris was at that time a resident of Sarasota, having been a state house rep for that area before being crowned Secty of State by Jebbie Boosh. The record clearly shows how Harris was eager to please the BushCo Regime in any way she could. She has yet to be held accountable for her part in the travesty that was called the 2000 election.

57. A few more paragraphs that make you go hmmmm....
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/attytood/The-10-unanswered-questions-of-911.html

The final 9/11 Commission report in 2004 delved deeply into some areas, but an entire 28-page section was blacked out — the section that dealt with the sensitive area of 9/11 and Saudi Arabia, the nation that was birthplace to 15 out of the 19 hijackers.

In a new book called The Eleventh Day, the investigative reporters Anthony Summers and Robbyn Swan make a compelling argument that the Saudi royal family was paying what amounted to “protection money” to bin Laden as early as 1995 and that there may have been contacts between Saudi representatives in the United States and some of the hijackers in the months leading up to 9/11.

In July 2002, three Saudi royals met bizarre deaths with a week of each other — allegedly after they had been named in the interrogation of a captured al-Qaeda member, Abu Zubaydah. Coincidence? History may be the final judge.

16. That was Boca Raton, Fl.
n a story that seems ripped from its own outrageous tabloid headlines, The National Enquirer has closed its Boca Raton, Fla., headquarters Monday after health department officials detected the anthrax bacterium on its premises.

Last week, 63-year-old Robert Stevens, a photo editor for the company, died from anthrax. Officials thought it to be an isolated case, but then began testing Stevens' family and associates. This weekend, a co-worker of Stevens tested positive for exposure to the extremely rare, yet potentially deadly disease. Immediately following the second case, staffers were told to stay out of the building until further notice. According to Entertainment Tonight, the tabloid's employees are undergoing nasal passage testing Monday at a local clinic. "Obviously, our first concern is the health and well-being of our employees and their families," said Michael Kahane, Vice President and General Counsel of American Media Inc., which publishes The National Enquirer and other supermarket tabloids, told ET.

Seats from the 4 planes yet? 800 seats go "Whoosh!" and nobody asks anything about them? More crazy talk I suppose. LOL! Not one picture of any seats anywhere. With the explosion of the buildings during the crash, there should have been some seats somewhere. Maybe a burnt out seat. I've been asking this question for the past week. And no seats, makes no sense. They used DNA to ID all the passengers, but no pictures of any seats at any crash site. DNA survives where metal framed seats disappear. We need a REAL investigation of 9/11.

I doubt that much of anything we do will matter now.

A common mistake.
They found the passport of Satam al-Suqami. But the circumstances of recovering it (reportedly on Vesey St.) are still bizarre enough to make all but the most incurious among us ask questions.

Irrefutable evidence for the plane is extremely easy to discover.

Likely swiss, like the truther stories.

All sorts of photos of airplane parts are available from the Pentagon site in the public domain, if you simply look. The most recognizeable components are the landing gear, and rims, pieces of the outer skin, including the airline logo, and the compressor section of both engines (the front section was obliterated by rotational forces on impact).

52. Maybe I'm just out of the loop...
... but what is the significance of no seats from the planes? We all saw film footage of the planes hitting the towers. Unless you're willing to believe that it was all a movie special effects deal that all the networks and amateur camera operators were in on, there's really not a legit question about that. So how is the absence of seats on the planes telling us there's something fishy going on? Why would anyone involved in a plot to cause 9/11 remove the seats from the planes? I don't get it.

He is just looking for any excuse to believe in some impossible conspiracy. The right-wing has their birthers, and the left has their truthers.

Truthers know that our government is highly corrupt and evil. But they have a hard time separating fact from fantasy. There's more to the 9-11 story than our government admits, but the truthers are going the wrong way.

137. I agree
The truthers themselves, by their ridiculous claims, are evidence that there wasn't a US Government conspiracy. Otherwise they wouldn't need to make such impossible claims.

The US Government is covering up its incompetence in allowing 9-11 to happen, and is also ignoring its role in provoking 9-11. So the US Government is responsible for 9-11, but not like the truthers claim. Covering for the Saudis is part of this cover-up.

It is possible that there is more to the story, but 9-11 certainly isn't a large US Government operation. Arabs, angry with US foreign policy, did 9-11. That is the central fact that the truthers are helping the US Government cover up - the US provoked the attack.

35. 08/30/01 - Saudi family flees suddenly. Here's the context of the prior week.
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 09:32 AM by leveymg
Since these Saudi nationals left food on the table and dirty diapers out in their house when they apparently fled, that's a sign that one of two things happened on August 30, 2001:

1) They're part of an organized ring and have received the Go-signal that a pre-arranged plan was in motion, and they should promptly proceed to their staging area; or,
2) they received a tip that they've been discovered, and they need to clear the hell out of there to a safehouse.

Given that they left fruit out and dirty diapers in the house, that indicates, at least, they weren't planning on coming back, and also left in such a hurry that they didn't even bother to empty the trash. They did take the contents of the wall safe and main computer with them, so they showed discipline in their escape to their next stopover in Arlington, VA, before fleeing the country.

I would tend to go with scenario 1), but it could be either way.

Here's part of the context: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/leveymg/258

08/23/01 - CIA Director George Tenet is briefed repeatedly on the Zakarias Moussouai case, who had been arrested by the FBI several days earlier. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A13122-2004Apr14.html, 9/11 Commission, 7/24/2004, pp. 275; Associated Press, 3/21/2006>

08/24/01 - Tenet apparently takes an unplanned trip to Crawford, TX, and briefs President George W. Bush. According to Tenet's book, The Center of the Storm, the CIA Director talks to Bush about matters that follow-up on the 08/06 PDB, a CIA briefing that warned that "Bin Laden Planning Attacks In the U.S." The White House web site for August 25 will quote Bush as remarking to public visitors that he met with Tenet on the 24th.

In a verbatim transcript, the President is quoted during an impromptu walking tour of Bush's Crawford, TX ranch that he had met the day before with CIA Director and newly appointed members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld and National Security Advisor Rice were also present at a Presidential press conference in Crawford on the 24th, according to the White House press notice issued that day. In the August 25 transcript, the President Bush states to reporters and visitors:

THE PRESIDENT: " . . . Yesterday, we spent -- well, they arrived at 10:00 a.m. It took a while to get the press conference. We got back here at about 11:30 a.m. and met until 5:15 p.m. I think they left. That's the longest meeting I've had in a long time, on a very important subject . . .

Q When you have those business meetings, like the Joint Chiefs briefing, do you like to keep it separate from the living quarters on the ranch?

THE PRESIDENT: Actually, you know, what we call the governor's house, the place where you all came out during the -- that's where we went. Condi and Karen Hughes stayed there. And right across the street from that is a -- it's a nice looking government doublewide. (Laughter.) And that's where the mil aide, the nurse, the WHCA head, the doc, they stay.

The CIA briefings, I have on our porch, the end of our porch looking out over the lake. When Tenet came up, that's where we visited, out there.

You know, everybody wants to see the ranch, which I'm proud to show it off. So George Tenet and I -- yesterday, we piled in the new nominees for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, the Vice Chairman and their wives and went right up the canyon. "http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/20... >

The "very important subject" discussed for almost six hours by Bush with his core national security team would likely have been the CIA's action the day before placing four wanted Al-Qaeda terrorists on the "watchlist" of persons to be detained if located in the US. On August 23 the Agency sent "cables to the State Department, the FBI, and the Immigration and Naturalization Service, requesting that 'four bin Laden related individuals' including Almidhar and Alhazmi, be placed on the watchlist." (Washington Post, A8, September 21, 2002) Two of those - Khalid Almidhar and Nawaf Alhazmi - subsequently led the hijacking of American Airlines Flight 77 that slammed into the Pentagon.

The pair had been the subject of CIA-directed surveillance since at least late 1999, when they were followed by the CIA to an Al-Qaeda planning session in Kuala Lumpur, at which they were observed meeting with a ranking terrorist operations director and Mohamed Atta's roommate, Ramzi Binalshibh, who subsequently wired money to them from Germany. Binalshibh also sent funds to Zacarias Moussaoui, who in October 2000 stayed at the same Al-Qaeda safehouse in Malaysia while on his way to the United States. On August 15, Moussaoui was arrested by the FBI at a Minnesota flight school.

***

Here's some more context that indicates that the Florida family were activated -- or may have themselves issued orders to others -- just after the 9/11 hijackers received their final Go-order with a date, time, and specific flights to be booked and hijacked.

Beginning August 25, all the 9/11 hijackers book their flights for September 11, 2001, using their apparent real names. The total cost of the tickets is in excess of $30,000: See, http://www.historycommons.org/context.jsp?item=a083001ciapredictssuicide

August 25: Khalid Almihdhar, who was watchlisted two days previously (see August 23, 2001), and Majed Moqed book tickets for American Airlines flight 77 using the AA.com website. They are collected from the American Airlines ticket counter at Baltimore Washington International Airport on September 5. The tickets were not mailed, because the shipping address did not match the credit card address.
August 26: Wail Alshehri buys a ticket for American Airlines flight 11 over the phone with his debit card. His brother Waleed buys a ticket for the same flight at the AA.com website using his debit card.
August 27: Nawaf Alhazmi, who was watchlisted four days before (see August 23, 2001), buys tickets for himself and his brother Salem for American Airlines flight 77 through Travelocity from a Kinkos computer in Laurel, Maryland, using his debit card (see August 25-27, 2001).
August 27: Saeed Alghamdi uses his debit card to purchase tickets for United Airlines flight 93 for himself and Ahmed Alnami from the UA.com website. The tickets are not paid for until September 5, 2001, due to a problem with the debit card.
August 27: Fayez Ahmed Banihammad uses his visa card to purchase tickets for himself and Mohamed Alshehri for United Airlines flight 175 over the telephone.
August 28: Mohamed Atta uses his debit card to buy tickets for American Airlines flight 11 for himself and Abdulaziz Alomari from the AA.com website.
August 28: Waleed Alshehri purchases a ticket for Satam Al Suqami for American Airlines flight 11 in person from the company’s counter at Fort Lauderdale Airport.
August 28: Marwan Alshehhi purchases a ticket for United Airlines flight 175 from the company’s counter at Miami International Airport.
August 29: Hamza Alghamdi books tickets for himself and Ahmed Alghamdi for United Airlines flight 175 from the UA.com website.
August 29: Ahmed Alhaznawi creates a new e-mail account and Travelocity.com account and uses them to book a ticket for himself on United Airlines flight 93.
August 30: Ziad Jarrah purchases a ticket for himself for United Airlines flight 93 from the UA website.
August 31: Hani Hanjour purchases a ticket for American Airlines flight 77 from ATS Advanced Travel Services in Totowa, New Jersey, paying in cash.
At least five tickets are one way only. There are numerous connections between the hijackers booked on the four flights by this point.

When you put these time-lines together, you have cause for a criminal homicide investigation of some very powerful people who are not deceased. No wonder they covered up the Sarasota, FL link for almost a decade.

that there was one of Saudi royalty as a patient at prominent hospital in Dallas for over a year, and yes, during this time. The entire top floor of the hospital was being utilized...with armed guards in the stairwells and a pre-approved staff to care for him.

There were dozens of Saudi family and staff living on the floor while he was there. They returned home a little over a year after 9-11.

42. I always respected and admired the Jersey girls
They knew something didn't pass the smell test. And, remember when they filed a lawsuit against the saudis and James Baker III defended the saudis.

The FBI was keeping track of Atta and the boys, Colleen Rowley and her colleagues attempted to give a heads up. Oh yeah, we'll pass it on to the higher ups. And, I remember that day clearly, before the MSM was attempting to cover, they interviewed an immigration official who stated that they were ordered to give a "pass" less scrutiny for those who were from SA. Little Boots got rid of Saddam, SA hated Saddam. Yeah, yeah, he was an evil dictator-at one time our evil dictator who had nothing to do with 9/11. Was it because he nationalized the oil? Was it because he was competing with SA? Was it because little boots, damn the consequences or how many are killed on both sides, believed that a war president gets elected and saddam "tried to kill my daddy?" Whatever the reason, SA has come out smelling like a rose from these events-from our closing down a base in SA (that OBL wanted) to taking out Saddam. Oh, and Iraq was a perfect check against Iran. So basically we destabilized the region giving Iran more incentive to obtain nuclear capability for protection.

Oh, and as far as Saddam being a ruthless dictator, how about one of our "allies" who boiled his political opponent alive? Our government has a propensity of choosing which evil dictators it wants to do business with like Pinochet.

I also remember law enforcement immediately confiscating all records from the florida flight school where the hijackers apparently did their training. Have those records seen the light of day?

I've never believed one word BushCo told us about this incident.

I refuse to get ensnared in the details, because the details were told to us by BushCo.

There was never a REAL investigation, and now the evidence is gone.

69. Yet you will find all sorts of apologists...
Who will fight tooth and nail and say the data is correct, blah blah blah.

I don't think it's very hard to figure out how something might happen, what proof you would expect to find, then issue a report supporting the desired outcome. It's like Cheney leaking something to one reporter, then citing that story to another. It's like arguing with some asswipe in the InterTubes and have him offer links as "proof"... then you find the links go back to his own blog.

94. I liked this part of the article
"McKay said he tried to get the Ghazzawis to sign the necessary documents in person, but the ploy failed because the documents could legally be signed elsewhere using a notary. Records show Ghazzawi’s signature was notarized by the vice consul of the U.S. embassy in Lebanon in September 2003. Deborah Ghazzawi’s signature was notarized in Riverside County, Calif."

So Ghazzawi couldn't have been taken into custody at the embassy and then taken to one of our secret rendition sites in the CIA gulag?

Not only am I not shocked, I'm not even a little bit surprised. I really don't think there's anything about the terrorists/saudis/BushCo that could surprise me. Seriously, if you told me they sacrificed virgins and ate their hearts, I wouldn't be shocked. Together, these groups have killed, maimed, or tortured millions of people. What is there left to be shocked about?

of investigation as to the depth of the Saudi role in 9/11..."

WTF!? We -- some of the people -- knew 10 years ago about the depth of Saudi involvement that's why we protested the Shock & Awe invasion of Iraq! It didn't/doesn't take much to figure Saudi involvement when 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi as was Osama bin Laden.

Graham can't be that stupid. Sheesh.

112. A lot of wha went on in Florida got overlooked, including an attempt on Dubya's life
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 05:51 PM by Bucky
Early reports about an attempt to kill Bush at his hotel residence the morning of the attacks were hushed up. Apparently they were using the same MO that al-Qaeda operatives had used to assassinate an enemy warlord in Afghanistan the week before the attacks--posing as TV reporters and using explosives in the camera equipment to kill the target. They tried to approach both his hotel (because they were unscheduled, they were turned away) and then later tried to get Bush's attention from outside the perimeter by honking at him from their van while he went on his morning jog. Apparently it's easier to get a surprise interview with a warlord than it is with a bubble-protected Chimp in Chief. These operatives seem to have gotten away clean and all reporting on the matter stopped before September was up. I'm guessing the close call was too embarrassing to the secret service--if they'd only brought along a decent rifle they could have murdered the president too that morning. So the matter was hushed up.

- or the lack of evidence. I never bought the White Houses story concerning the WMD's, and after seeing Graham's puzzled face (after Graham's intelligence briefing on WMD's), I was sure it was total BS. Graham should've violated US law and exposed the lie.

126. Esam Ghazzawi. This defintely makes me go hmm.
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 07:49 PM by drm604
From the OPs Miami Herald link:
The Saudi residents then living at the stylish home, Abdulazzi al-Hiijjii and his wife Anoud, could not be reached, nor could the then-owner of the house, Esam Ghazzawi, who is Anoud’s father.

I Googled Esam Ghazzawi and came up with this:
http://www.sauduction.com/issues/11
PRINCE FAHD BIN SALMAN'S DUBIOUS BANKING PRACTICES
Private Eye reports: "Prince Fahd bin Salman, eldest son of ... Prince Salman, the governor of Riyadh ... a court case brought by the BCCI liquidators over the little matter of $397,000 owed to the rogue bank. Since 1994 the liquidators had been seeking repayment of this money under a guarantee given by the prince for the overdraft of an offshore company, Colchest Corporation N.V. In an unusual response, Prince Fahd sought to offset against this debt money held at another BCCI branch in the name of one Esam Ghazzawi, claiming that this was his money. The court of appeal rejected this suggestion on the basis that it was unclear who owned what in the Ghazzawi accounts." This is an example of how Saudi princes get tangled up in their own financial web. They refuse to keep it simple. This leaves them open to unscrupulous advisors and lengthy, costly litagation. When will they learn!

Notice the name I bolded? I don't know anything about sauduction.com and I haven't browsed through the rest of it, and to be honest it looks like it may be some sort of crazy conspiracy site. But still, the supposed connection is interesting if true, and it's worth noting that a search of archive.org shows that that exact same paragraph, with the mention of Ghazzawi, has been on that site since at least as early as Dec. 2, 1998.

132. The BushCo criminal empire would much prefer that you focus on the horror
so that you remember the fear this weekend during the 9/11 orgy of propaganda. Big corporate media is salivating at the prospect of squeezing a few more dollars out of 9/11 by presenting the story in a grotesque spectacle. The last thing the mainstream media is going to focus on is this story about "the terrorists" stopping by the house of members of the Saudi Royal family immediately prior to the attacks. For the folks invested in the lies of 9/11, there could be a video of the Saudi King instructing Mohammed Atta where to strike on a big wall map with a pointer and the mainstream, corporate media would not show it this weekend. Way too much money to be made to allow anything resembling the truth to ooze out.

Instead, what do I get?
Twinkletoes Craig and Crappy Crapo!
Craig was replaced by the Midget Risch and he's no better than Craig.

There is no doubt we were not told the truth about 9/11.
Yet I am a little surprised to see that a few names that I would expect to see comment in this thread are missing, but that's the way it goes sometimes.
