is that these people on Welfare are required to pay for their own testing! The bureaucracy takes over because of the cost of hiring "extra" people to do it!
I see an orthopedic doctor once a month because of chronic back, disk degeneration and scoliosis and he told me yesterday that UNLESS he takes a class and registers as a Pain Clinic, my county will now limit him to writing ONLY 20 scripts a day that are of a certain class. He IS NOT happy because he said many of his patients have a real NEED for the meds. He wrote two for me yesterday, but may not be able to continue my same regimen next month. So he gave me a shot, which in turn means my insurance puts limits on. I will have to pay for my physical therapy, which I have decided I WILL NOT do.
So, he wrote me 2, then that left him only 18 left for the rest of the day. He's an ORTHOPEDIC doctor and doesn't NOT want to take the class and become and PAIN MANAGEMENT doctor. I don't blame him, so told him I was going to sign up for some classes that will keep my arthritis in my back under control. Tried the yoga, but I'm just no "sen" enough. I have OCD and can't zone in like many others. My mind races with a myriad of thoughts when asked to meditate.
Anyway, I've been seeing him since 1996 and he says he KNOWS my pain is legitimate. He feels he's being manipulated too. Both my daughter and son-in-law are in the health care industry, she's just about to graduate and become an ARNP, he works as a critical care nurse at the Emergency room at our largest hospital. They think what's going on with doctors on down is becoming totally out of control, especially my son-in-law. They just put up notices at the hospital that Medicare patients will now HAVE to pay a $2,000 deductible BEFORE they can get treated. And this is a County run hospital... he's spitting mad!
My husband and I have retiree Medicare insurance through a Union base job (Verizon) but last January they told us we had to pay an extra $27.50 a month, over and above what they take out of our monthly check.
People, we are getting SO SCREWED! Even the UNION! I so FED-UP and if I could move somewhere I think I would seriously consider it, however I'm stuck here. Both my kids and grandkids live very close, we have 5.5 acres of land I can't really sell at a decent price, and we NOW are paying for the upkeep of my husband's mother's place up in Inverness. Prices are so down graded that we can't sell it either. I feel PINCHED and backed into a corner!
We don't have much income monthly, but we aren't in danger of losing our house, that much is a plus... but we still need to pay taxes, flood insurance and home insurance costs. Good thing I know how to pinch a penny!
