A story untold
As I listened to the announcement this morning by local officials abouo the latest total of homes destroyed by fires in just one area of Texas (over 1,300 in Bastrop Co.) - a number which continues to rise - I'm wondering once again as I've wondered since Katrina and throughout the floods, hurricanes, tornados and other fires all around the U.S. (and around the world), just what has happened to the enormous number of displaced and devastated families and individuals? It seems that too often the media coverage does not follow up on what seems to me to be an equally big piece of that story. I can imagine that some percentage of those thousands (millions?) affected by these disasters find a way to stay or return and rebuild. But what of the rest? Where are they now? How have they coped? Particularly since so many traditional social safety nets are disappearing?

1. Well considering the fact that none of them are celebrities-
We will never know what is happening to them.
MSM can't be bothered with such trivia.
:sarcasm:

3. Texas blonde, not relevant in light of Hollywood blondes.
No celebrities, no news.

and governor's office.

6. that's on top of those displaced by the record floods,
and the mid west and southeast tornados.

What the hell happens to those people. I'm sure Allstate isn't there with good hands for all of them. In fact, I'm wondering why I'm not seeing employment wanted adds for reconstruction of those homes. Used to be the papers here in sunny Floriduh were full of them when disaster struck.

7. I think we will soon see the collapse of insurance companies...
or, as the health insurance companies did, figure out a way to only cover those who don't have or aren't likely to have any problems. But even then,
as disasters mount, I think the illusion of insurance (like the illusion of FDIC insurance..haha...and pensions) will become more in line with
the reality that we all must be responsible for ourselves and each other.
