What do you want the President to talk about in his jobs speech?
Personally, these are some things I want the President to talk about:
  • a plan for massive infrastructure spending, to create jobs here in America for Americans.
  • creating real jobs versus what the republicans have in mind.
  • the failure of the Bush Tax Cuts, how they have not created any new jobs in America.
  • new tax cuts for the middle class.
  • the do nothing/obstructionist congress.
  • how the republicans would rather tank the economy than pass real stimulus.
  • and lastly, I want him to dare republicans to sign onto his jobs plan and do something to help create jobs, instead of just sitting on their hands, hoping tax breaks for rich people will trickle down to the middle class, poor and unemployed.

1. Relative to creating real jobs versus what the Republican'ts have in mind:

I would like to see somekind of aggressively proactive support for different kinds of Profit-Sharing, REAL intrinsic buy-ins for the Real Value that American Labor brings to the workplace.

I hope these ideas could be creative responses to what constitutes or could constitute Real Value, including but not limited to money (an arbitrary value which isn't a Real Value, btw), and much more importantly the Real Values of: Health Care, Social Security, and Education.

2. In short, I want to see an end to this abstraction that Job Creation ONLY & exclusively comes from
the "top".

4. Excellent list. And here is more
from a cross-section outside our DU bubble who will also be listening. Everyday Americans polled about what they want to hear in his jobs speech:

5. I don't care all that much what he says.
Speeches by Presidents and Congressmen do nothing for me. I judge them by their deeds, so I will wait and see what is done.

7. I want him to paint a clear picture of...
...the two alternative visions of our country's future...the one he holds, as opposed to the one Republicans and the Tea Party hold. Then I want him to explain how we get there...how his actions help us do that. Break it down. Talk about the values we stand for.

Just to be clear, most of us here already know this, but the general citizenry does not. JHMO.

11. I want him to say we are going to repeal NAFTA and all the other Free Trade
agreements. Then we plan to install tariffs like we use to have. If it cost an employer one dollar in labor cost to make a product, and the same employer can have the same product made in China for ten cents, then there will be a ninety cent tariff if the employer wants to sell the product in the USA. We will and must protect the US manufacturing base!

13. I would like him to explain why he's reversed himself
on the Columbia trade deal in particular and now pushing as President that which he condemned as a presidential candidate.

12. JOBS. Not tax cuts, not FICA holidays, but actual JOB CREATION.
Of course, he'll probably still be offering his Republican-lite suggestions.
