Seemingly drunk Swedish moose found stuck in tree
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 03:33 PM by Liberal_in_LA
poor moose

Per Johansson says he heard a roar from his vacationing neighbor's garden in southwestern Sweden late Tuesday and went to have a look. There, he found a female moose kicking about in the tree. The animal was likely drunk from eating fermented apples.

With the help of police and rescue services, the 45-year-old Johansson later managed to set the moose free in part by sawing off tree branches.

But the animal appeared confused and wandered into Johansson's garden, where she was still resting Thursday.

Other neighbors in the Goteborg suburb Saro had seen the animal sneaking around the area for days. Johansson said the moose appeared to be sick, drunk or "half-stupid."

33. she was eating apples
and she decided if she could get to the ones on the top of the tree they would be delicious
but she was too drunk to realize she was a moose and was not able to do such a thing
dont act like it never happened to you!
my favorite part of this story is the moose was "sneaking" around his garden
ever see a moose? its like a clydesdale with antlers
terrible sneakers

6. It's amazing how many animals like to get drunk
I've a persimmon tree in my yard, and every year the fruit falls and ferments. I've seen drunk bees, squirrels and other critters. It is funny to watch, and they keep coming back every year.

11. seems to be doing better.. update on moose
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 03:59 PM by Liberal_in_LA
When dawn came the day after it was freed from the tree, the moose had not yet left.

"When I went out for the newspaper it was still laying there on the ground, sleeping. By the time I left for work it was walking around the neighbor's yard on very shaky legs." Johansson said.

"Today the moose came back and walked around the yard," he added. "I think it likes it here."

18. A hangover of truly epic proportions, I'd guess.
I don't think the average moose has a lot of experience with getting hammered. And since the moose in question made it in to a tree, it had to be seriously s*itfaced.

At least not unless the tree is a bigger one with a moose tree house. ;-)

If not for that, she could have climbed that tree and taken flight.

23. Hrm, while it may appear "drunk" there could be something going on, neurologically.
One would have expected the animal to have recovered a bit more fully by the next day. I hope that if the animal continues to exhibit such behavior that it is examined by a vet. And not just for the moose's sake, either.
