None of this speech matters.

The teahadhists in the Hpuse will not pass anything. They will threaten to let the payroll tax cuts to expire unless Obama gives up something else. In the meantime, David Gergen will clutch his pearls and tell Anderson Cooper that the president was too mean and partisan.

5. Of course they won't. And the whiners about bully pulpit will still blame Obama.
Who cares? Obama just got reelected.

6. The whole point is to make the GOP look like the unamerican, corporatist pricks that they are.
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 06:33 PM by backscatter712
Of course they're gonna Koch-block. But if the American people know they're Koch-blocking, for no other reason than to attack Obama, it's likely to cause a backlash.

7. Unrec, but here's why...
I think that this speech, this message is a winner. It's painting the repugs into a tight corner that doesn't serve their obstruction well.

8. I agree.
That's not a slight against Obama, either. I'm as harsh a critic of his as anyone on here, but it's clear the House crazies won't let anything by them until they either lose their majority or Obama loses the White House.
