3 Free Trade Agreements
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 07:11 PM by ThomWV
I am still waiting for some one to explain to me how allowing three more countries to import whatever they can make money on into this country duty free is going to create jobs here.

1. The same way tax cuts for the wealthy create jobs.
Republic Party myths.

2. Trade Adjustment Assistance is supposed to mitigate that.
But we'll see if the Congress lets it get passed. I don't see the Democrats allowing the new free trade deals without Trade Adjustment Assistance.

3. We trade better with FTA countries than with the rest of the world.
In 2010 our total trade with the 17 countries we have FTA's with was $1.115 trillion. We had a deficit of $71.1 billion (6.5% of the total).

In 2010 our total trade with all non-FTA countries was $2.108 trillion. We had a deficit of $574.8 billion (27.3% of the total).

And we had a trade surplus in 2010 with 12 of the 17 countries we have FTA's with.

5. Does that count only finished goods or does it count finished goods and
raw materials?
