We All Need To Push To Bring The Troops Home Now.
Edited on Thu Sep-08-11 08:50 PM by rsmith6621

1....So we can use some of the savings to pay for this jobs bill.....2...Because we can better use the money to defend ourselves from the terrorist here on our own land and create more jobs as well.

1. Did Obama ask people to do this in his speech?

3. Thank you for reminding us to shout this until we're hoarse
And then let's end that other war, the war on drugs.

4. "Now". What does "now" mean? Next weekend? Next month? Next year?
If it's that kind of "now" prepare to be disappointed and welcome to reality: Obama will do what he intends to do and he doesn't give a shit what Liberals or Progressives think about it.

The troops are not going to be coming home "now" or anytime soon.

5. There is only one way to do it, not now, but ASAP.
And that only one way is the same way as the one that was done to end the Vietnam quagmire: a growing wide and large popular movement that will ultimately coerce congresscritters to cut funding for it.

There isn't any other way.

6. That would mean convincing a Republican controlled Congress to cut funding for a war.
Republicans never met a war they didn't like.

8. Yeah, this time the growing wide and large movement will need 2 b
large enough to embarass them up to some tipping point...

Nothing is impossible.

9. Nothing is impossible, but some things are far more likely than others.
The trick is to be able to discern the difference.

The reality is that the troops will not be coming home "now" or even ASAP. It may well be that not all of them will come home for a very long time.

I lived through the 60s and Vietnam, even when it was still called "Viet Nam", and now is not then.
