anything exciting happen? I must confess that when the grid first went down, I ran down some good ol' Texas conspiracy theories in my head.

Power still out in many parts of SoCal... all the way to Ensenada so I hear.

5. Obama
was in a fighting spirit and was the first President in US history to defend organized labor in a speech to congress. Even the President of the AFL-CIO was there..there pressure seems to be working.

6. Just finished watching the speech.
Pretty inspiring stuff. It will be interesting to see what reasons Boehner's owners come up with to block the AJA, because you know they are not going to pass it.

10. Overall
I liked the speech as well. I liked to see him come out swinging for once, and it seems like he will beat them over the head with this when it fails ( and it will). It is perfectly designed for the center to blame the GOP when it does. The devil is in the details when it comes to trade deals and Medicare reforms, but I will hold judgment until I see proposals. For anyone who thinks Obama has it out against Medicare, they just aren't paying attention.

There are billions in Medicare fraud every year. Obama could very well propose ways to cut this fraud and allow Part D to negotiate. That would solve many problems.

12. Keeping Jeb Bush and his criminal co-conspirators away from Medicare is a good place to start

14. This place, as a self-identified "left-wing" website,
should be a refuge from neo-liberals.

In my opinion.

I don't hate people. Any people.

I try not to hate at all, although I often fail. I DO, for example, hate neoliberalism.

15. In other words, neoliberalism will save the day?
I'd like to read a transcript, but I'm not going to watch/listen to video or audio.

I assumed his speech would make some grand statements about labor, then dive in with anti-labor neoliberal policy.

How close was I?
