Cantor to Obama: Please don't take it to the American people
byJed Lewison

CANTOR: This is my objection to the message that was delivered tonight. The message was: either accept my package as it is, or I will take it to the American people. I would say that that’s the wrong approach. What we’re here to do is try to transcend differences, not let them get in the way in the areas we can make progress on.

4. My way or the highway
OK for Republicans, but when it is applied to them, they suddenly object to the tactic. That's really rich, Cantor.

9. And next they'll just get rid of that pesky voting thing entirely.
'Cause funny voting machines, voter ID laws, and voter suppression aren't working fast enough to take the country into the New Dark Ages.

11. Cantor's credibility is shot.
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 09:38 AM by The Backlash Cometh
Obama already gave the Republicans plans that transcended differences and they kept changing the goal posts. That means they are not reliable negotiators and Obama needs American people to keep them honest.

15. It's like hitting them when they're down
President Obama knows that Congress has an approval rating somewhere in the teens,

He's just letting the people know that he knows that and that it's the Repubs who control the House.

22. I know what the Republicans are thinking.
If they agree with Obama now, they've lost the next election. It will be interesting to see if there's a level below scorched earth.

the President will have a field day in pointing out their obstructionism at the expense of the American people.

17. Translation of Cantor
Edited on Fri Sep-09-11 09:25 AM by Botany
How dare he stand up to me and take his case to the American people? Because they are not who I work for and the
President is going to upset my gravy train by taking his message directly to the people.

BTW the President speaks in Cantor's hometown in one hour. :spray:

21. GOPers can submit their own job bill, but they don't.
They simply cling to the myth that cutting taxes and regulations is the only way to create jobs.

However, those "solutions" are the very actions taken by GWBush in the years leading up to the Economic Crash. So obviously, they are not the answer to the unemployment problem now.

But all that is beside the point, as far as Cantor and the rest are concerned. They don't care about the unemployed; only the rich and powerful. In fact, since their Job #1 is removing Obama from office, no doubt they WANT the unemployment rate to stay bad just to improve their chances of defeating him.
