The Lee storm inundated Pennsylvania around the Susquehanna River. They're trying to prop up one of the crappy old levies like Sacramento has and save more homes.

1. Thanks for the news. Most don't know that this storm has shut down the Erie Canal indefinitely.

2. All that water has got to go

somewhere and that somewhere is here. http://www.wbaltv.com/weather/29115662/detail.html PA, NJ & NY will get all the national coverage but all that water flows downstream.
I am sick of rain, water, mud etc. Just like the southwest is sick of no rain, smoke & fire. Luckily I am on high ground with a working sump pump running away in the basement. I do realize how lucky I am and feel for those not on high ground.

4. I can't imagine how the large number of people affected by this, are going to recover.

Most don't have any way to cope with it. 165,000 taken to shelters yesterday, going largely unnoticed. Hurricane Irene didn't end yet for a lot of people. But you'd never know it by watching the news.

I haven't even seen an estimated number yet of how many homes altogether have been damaged by the hurricane and the floods, but it has to be a very large number. No news on how reconstruction will happen. I'm sure there are programs of some kind, but isn't this news? Do we not get to know this unless we're applying for help ourselves? WTH? What's the big secret about?
