With people all over the world acknowledged the need of a continued and integrated care for the patients suffering from mental and chronic illness on the World Mental Health Day, the recent news of proposed reduction of about $134 million, in the health sector has represented an ironic image of the people of Texas, who are reportedly been living a miserable life for a long time.
Just like in many third world countries, people living in the stigma of mental illness are forced to bear the brunt of the local communities. Though mocking the physical sick is prohibited in many cultures, but harrowing cases of people being caged by their families are depicting despicable face of society.
With the case of Arizona shooting, still hovering in the minds of people, insufficient funds could pose a serious threat to around 1.5 million people. Texas Medical Association President, Susan R. Bailey has reportedly expressed concern over the future of patients suffering from chronic mental illness in an already under-served population.
