David Vitter complains about having to vote instead of going to a party

David Vitter, a Republican senator from Louisiana known solely now and until the end of history for enjoying the company of prostitutes, had a great idea: He was going to petulantly skip Barack Obama's speech to Congress about his jobs proposal, and go to a football party instead. This would show his constituents how much contempt he has for Barack Obama, because that is how Republicans prove seriousness, these days. Well, Harry Reid scheduled some votes for after the speech, just as a sort of mildly amusing "screw you" to the high-profile skippers.

David Vitter is not happy! He is so unhappy he immediately emailed his supporters to whine and carry on about the grave injustice of David Vitter having to go vote on stuff instead of watching a football game, at a party.

"Apparently my attending my own Saints game party at home in Louisiana is the latest casualty of Washington partisanship," Vitter wrote. He's right. That is the latest casualty, and will remain so until someone else loses their illegally foreclosed upon house or falls off the unemployment rolls, both of which will probably happen within the next hour of two.

Typical Harry Reid. He’s now scheduled votes that should’ve been held this morning for right before and right AFTER prez’s speech. Pens in those who would have skipped speech, like me. So now I’ll miss my own Saints game party at home. Always knew Harry was a Dirty Birds fan! Don’t worry -- only strengthens my Who Dat resolve. On to the Super Bowl!

2. Bunning Whines About Missing Basketball Game, Tells Dems ‘Tough Sh*t’ On Unemployment Benefits
Feb 26, 2010

Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed an extension of unemployment benefits on a voice vote. The Senate, however, has yet to act on the same measure, as various senators are throwing up procedural roadblocks. On Wednesday night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) asked for unanimous consent to approve an extension, only to see the motion blocked by Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) over “a dispute over how should be funded.”

Late last night, Democrats made repeated attempts to pass the extension by unanimous consent, and Bunning blocked them all. He then complained that the Democrats’ insistence on trying to ensure that unemployment benefits not expire had caused him to miss a college basketball game.

3. how do people like vitter gain the public's trust and win elected office?
Edited on Sat Sep-10-11 11:46 AM by iemitsu
this reaction from vitter and the petulant cantor refusing to stand for obama after his speech are not examples of good leadership. they act like spoiled three-year-olds and display behaviors that would embarrass any responsible adult.
do they really think that others watch them and are impressed?
the students in my high school classroom have a better understanding of acceptable social behavior than these grown men.
edited: word choice and spelling

6. yes, i realize that this is the case
but i struggle to understand why.
the adults i know (from every walk of life) do not applaud other adults who display less than serious attitudes toward the jobs they were hired or elected to do.
men like vitter are "thumbing their noses" at their constituents and the system their have sworn to defend.

4. If David Vitter doesn't like his job, he can let Stormy Daniels have it
She is a porn star who actually ran for his seat in the last election. Now, since porn is from the Greek word pornos (prostitute), we may assume that Ms. Daniels would be a good fit for being a member of Congress entails these days,
