2. It's a wonderful song but it wasn't written or inspired by what happened
on 9/11

Buckley, Wainwright, Cale, Lang...I can appreciate all of them, but Buckley's version most.

4. First time I'm hearing it - a sad and lovely ballad
Bravo firemen!!! Should be background for ads against ReTHUG firing our bravest workers.

15. It would be in poor taste to make a campaign ad out of it
Edited on Sun Sep-11-11 10:31 AM by rustydog
but it would be a powerful point. Republicans will call them heroes for unselfishly running into Hell to save lives, then 10 years later, demonize them and blame them for our financial crisis.

Did Boner cry that day? Did Gingrich use September 11th as an excuse to cheat on another wife?

5. Willie Nelson's song "Angels Flying Too Close to the Ground"
would be a better tribute to 9-11

19. But it was written about 9/11...
I don't understand what you are getting at.

An old standard would be a better tribute than a song written right after the towers came down, right when everyone was filled with blood lust written about the sacrifice of the first responders.

6. I really liked Alan Jackson's song Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning.
Very non political. Very heart felt.

10. "Exodus Damage" -- John Vanderslice
I’ll see you next fall
At another gun show
I’ll call the day before, like usual

But i wanted so much more
I got exodus damage bleed,
Could not commit, some things i’ll never be

So now we’re talking about this
I’m starting to lose my confidence
No one ever says a word about
So much that happens in the world

Dance dance revolution
All we’re gonna get
Unless it falls apart
So i say: go go go
Let it fall down
I’m ready for the end

So the second plane hit at 9:02
I saw it live on a hotel tv, talking on my cell with you
You said this would happen, and just like that, it did
Wrong about the feeling, wrong about the sound
But right to say we would stand down

An hour went by without a fighter in the sky
You said there’s a reason why
So tell me now, i must confess
I’m not sick enough to guess

Dance dance revolution
All we’re gonna get
Unless it falls apart
So i say: go go go
Let it fall down
I’m ready for the end

So you hope that one person
Could solve everything
And for me, that’s you
Sometimes that dream
Is a sad delusion
But sometimes it’s true

So now we’re talking about this
I’m starting to lose my confidence
No one ever says a word about
So much that happens in the world

Dance dance revolution
All we’re gonna get
Unless it falls apart
So i say: go go go
Let it fall down
I’m ready for the end

12. I had a similar reaction to Joe Scarborough's 9/11 song.
Except it made me want to swerve off the road into a tree.

13. I remember hearing Garrison Keillor
sing this on 'Prairie Home Companion' soon after 9/11; by the end of the song, I was sobbing. True heroism. How dare that coward Bush even show his face at the hallowed ground where they so selflessly died? He has no shame.

Thank you.

I especially appreciated the quotes at the end, about courage.
