Being a reasonable, responsible gun owner, I'm open to ideas. What are some examples of reasonable gun control laws not currently on the books?

38. I do support reasonable gun control laws.

The National Firearms Act, the Gun Control Act, the armor-piercing bullet ban of 1986, the ban on X-ray-undetectable handguns, etc. are mostly reasonable, as are most state-level restrictions on the use of force in self-defense.

The "assault weapon" fraud and mandating pre-1870's capacity limits do not fall into the "reasonable" category, IMO.

At the risk of having this moved to the Gungeon, I have to say, as a responsible gun owner, that I am disgusted with the current worship of firearms and use of guns as political statement.

But I never advocated control myself because of history: they took all guns away from Native Americans in order to kill them off. So I have always abhored the thought of gov't controlling the ownership of guns.

The other aspect of this is that without guns, crazy people still kill people. In areas where there is strict gun control, people just turn to making bombs that can kill many more than one gunman can kill.

but having stewed over this a few days, I believe we have reached the point where so many people are armed, I just feel more comfy knowing those on our side have access to the same stuff as those on the other side. Fatalistic, sure, but if they declare open war on liberals, some of us do need to be armed to the teeth. Not sitting in rooms full of weapons, mind, but having enough to defend themselves adequately. (I know, i know, I'm a terrible liberal.)

That fact alone should make the Teabaggers think twice before starting any civil war. Sad that it's come to this point though. When i see these people with huge arsenals, I just think they're absolute losers. And all of them I've seen, to be fair, are anti-gubmint, rightwingers.





Still, Gun worshippers make me absolutely sick to my stomach.
