As Effective Social Tools, Terrorism and War are Useless.
Edited on Sun Sep-11-11 08:41 PM by Mojeoux
The fact is that Terrorism and War as tools of any cause or organization, are, at the bottom of the slippery slope, useless and pointless exercises.

Decades ago, Terrorism brought attention to hopeless causes, by right of holding our natural Good Samaritan, humanitarian instincts hostage along with their captives.

Our Wars have gone on longer than any in American History, and accomplished nothing but death and shame.

The social contracts of civilization are not written, they exist in our hearts.
No matter how righteous the cause, 2 wrongs don't make a right.

If this simple concept isn't realized and accepted, all the humanity lost on all sides, will be lost for nothing. An Eye for an Eye just leaves us all blind.

1. I don't know about that. Japan and Germany seem pretty peaceful nowadays
Neither has much of a military force or even (especially in Germany's case) a martial imperative almost 70 years since they were pounded into submission.

I'm not saying it was pretty, but neither nation is causing a whole lot of problems anymore.

I know you're talking about Iraq and Afghanistan, but I think it's worth noting. Besides, initial (if not subsequent) US objectives have been achieved in both of those places too. Afghanistan is no longer harboring Al-Qaida and Saddam's regime is long gone. We'd probably both agree that it's time to go home.
