In other words, what's the next date that will have DU'ers hatin' on each other for either remembering, celebrating, or memorializing?

The first game of the World Series?

Halloween?

Veterans Day?

Thanksgiving?

There are too many for me to keep up with. I think DU needs a list of Dates to Hate, and a forum where they can be discussed/argued about.

1. Duh- Christmas.
The most hated day of the DU year. The day to flood the board with "Pfft- Stupid Christians" posts. :grr:

11. I think you missed the "next" part of my post.
Veterans Day and Thanksgiving are going to be hatefests that will come before that. There are others, I'm sure.

2. Not Halloween, thank God. It's my favorite secular holiday
because it has not been militarized like all the others.. Neither has one religious holiday and that is Easter probably because it would be in poor taste to put yellow ribbons and flags on the Crucifix.

3. This Saturday. . .
149th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam.

It'll be a conflicted hate, however - some will criticize the remembrance of the bloodiest single day in American history, others will appeal that without it Mr Lincoln could not have issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

Have at it . . .

5. You know what day I really hate?
I hate side with the right wing and then shit all over everyone on DU who doesn't decide to join you in siding with the right wing day. It's my least favorite day of all.

12. As much as I'd like to see them made responsible for their actions, it doesn't make me
hate every day.

I understand your sentiment, but I'd bet you don't HATE every day just because they walk free.

fact that obvious murderers go free and nothing is being done. That does not bode well for this day or any other day murderers are in our faces in print, in statements from the pulpit, public events, the movies or television. I don't hate 'days'. Just the situation nattily dressed cowards in power have place or precious nation in.

Thanks. I do appreciate your concern with my statement.

Can we all at least agree that genocidal assholes aren't a good justification for three day weekends and mattress sales?

16. I avoided TV (except for a Star Trek program) and DU, both for reasons of 9/11.
Columbus Day would be where my money would go, though Rosh Hashana is before.

and certain evil bastards are still walking around free on the face of the Earth. Plenty of reasons to hate this date!

the next upcoming release date of yet ANOTHER major-motion-picture about some obscure little caped super-hero that most of us normal people have never heard of?

And yes, I shall be more than willing to run down anyone who shows any even moderate excitement about either of those dates.
