Some good news - abducted boy found safe.

Police received an anonymous 911 call around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning telling them the boy was back at his parents’ home. After his abduction five days earlier, police found Kienan on the couch holding his blanket. They believe the call came from his abductor.

His return safe and sound hasleft many scratching their heads including the RCMP in Sparwood who admit they’ve never seen anything like it.

The family wasn’t home when Kienan was returned, but were staying with a neighbour. The house, which had been surrounded by yellow police tape since the boy’s disappearance, had been thoroughly searched by investigators.

Had not heard about it, but nothing is more disturbing to me than someone hurting or kidnapping a child. Oh my gosh, I'm so happy for that family.

3. He was checked out and is perfectly ok, health wise

so they say - I hope that means there was no assault on him.

I have to say I was really surprised this happened. I held out no hope at all. I think the RCMP officers were shocked as well. A child being returned after a stranger abduction almost never happens. In fact, I think the statistics are something like after 72 hours, 95% of kids are already dead. I think this points to the suspect being more mentally ill than a sociopath or psychopath, and that his own mom's plea helped.

What I don't get is how the suspect was able to sneak the boy back into the house with it being under surveillance. My only explanation is that the cops were thinking what I was - that it was now hopeless and so they weren't really expecting THAT. Well, at any rate, I'm so happy for the parents and for the little boy. I hugged my own small children closer after this, and made sure all doors and windows were locked before bed. I can't imagine one of them disappearing overnight. OMG, I'd be just frantic and devastated. I'm so glad it turned out ok.
