2. I guess he meant "We will be active in the FORCE of such violence"?
Evidently there are different standards.

Shooting a 9 year-old American girl is unacceptable, but dropping bombs on Afghan children is something else...

3. I too thought of war during this and speeches on the house floor
I have said it many times before, the President gives incredible speeches that awe and inspire. Indeed that was what started his political career. But reflecting last night, I came to realize that it pretty much all there is. Every time I have found myself proud of the president it was because of a speech. Don't get me wrong this and other speeches are important and often very effective, but his administration's actions often betray his words and that is frustrating and ultimately heartbreaking.
