see and hear that crowd?
Cheering "yes!" when Wolf asked Ron Paul if an uninsured man should be allowed to die.

That crowd is who will have jobs in the executive branch of the government if Obama is defeated.

Think about that the next time you say that there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats.

Bloodthirsty mob rule. That's what is coming if they win.

7. Back before a short stay in the hospital didn't cost
five or even six-figures. Also, when any kind of cancer would probably mean a certain horrible death.

Not surprising from a guy who thinks the 1900 Galveston hurricane was a model for how to handle a disaster.

11. Isn't he a doctor? Didn't he take the Hippocratic Oath? If so, his
license should be revoked and he should never be allowed to treat anyone again.

I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not," nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given to me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

16. I read that he did treat people who had no money for free.
But if he thinks that all doctors are going to do that, he's dreaming.

21. Well, kudos for treating people for free, but most doctors don't do that.
What exactly did he say about whether or not the uninsured should be left to die...other than "churches use to take in the sick and poor?"

22. I think he has a real blind spot on this subject. Like many Libertarians
which is what he really is, they insist that people can make it with the help of charity and their communities. I think they live in the past and simply cannot accept that things do not work that way.

I used to argue with a Libertarian on another board, and like Paul, he was good on foreign policy, but whenever I asked him how a country could pay for roads and bridges and other infrastructure without taxes (he called taxes 'theft'), I never really got a clear answer from him. He lived in the wilds somewhere so was living what he believed and furious that he had to pay taxes.

You can't penetrate their belief in this idyllic place where everyone helps each other and no one needs the government or taxes to pay for anything. They can do it they say. It's totally unrealistic in today's world. I remember telling once that what he was talking about sounded like a tribal system. And that while Thomas Jefferson was fascinated with such a system and admired it, he discarded as impossible in the kind of country they were living in.

I didn't see the debate so I don't know what his answer was.

"I'll save his ass but it is going to cost you".

Doctors don't work for free in the US. He would still get money independently if the patient has insurance or not.

19. News Flash! There already ARE death panels. They don't come right out
and call themselves that, but, believe me, there are committees in full swing making decisions about whether certain individuals "merit" the costly procedures they need to go on living.

Didn't you see the opening, with the guy showing the crowd how to applaud when he raises his hands and quiets when he lowers tham down. Media circus, Check the debate again, and the intentional pitting of Romney and Perry against each other again. And Santorum just made a Christian dominionist statement, i'm done.

I was told many times during the health insurance reform debates that we have to force people to buy crappy private insurance to make absolutely sure no one gets a free ride. Anyone who refuses to buy the crappy insurance? No health care for them!

Heard it many times on this board from "centrist" pro-Obama Democrats.

20. Yes, I constantly heard the cheers wanting people to die
from the pro-Obama crowd. (And, no, they aren't forced to die.)

Actual language from the bill.
"Impose an annual penalty of $95, or up to 1% of income, whichever is greater, on individuals who do not secure insurance; this will rise to $695, or 2.5% of income, by 2016. This is an individual limit; families have a limit of $2,085.<14><68> Exemptions to the fine in cases of financial hardship or religious beliefs are permitted."

Even if we go to Medicare for all, we will still all pay for it.
