Why is Newt Gingrich in these debates ? he isn't a serious candidate

Why is Newt Gingrich in these debates ? he isn't a serious candidate
he isn't giving any specifics of his plans like the other candidates. he just seems to be there to take shots at Obama and other Democrats and to plug his website.

even Ron Paul and Herman Cain who don't have much chance are at least offering their plans.

..you know, the one offering phoney awards to businesses. The awards that business have to buy from Newt. He's made millions off those awards.

Basically waiting/hoping the same voters move towards him after the other candidates scare away voters. Might have worked had Bachmann done better.
