What a testament to the Libertarian creed, which abhors the idea of universal health care. This loyal, passionate man (Kent Snyder), who died too young, left his family a debt of $400,000 in medical bills.

Who knows whether he put off getting treatment for the pneumonia that killed him because he was uninsured.

<snip>

Ron Paul posted this message about Snyder on his website: ""Like so many in our movement, Kent sacrificed much for the cause of liberty, Kent poured every ounce of his being into our fight for freedom. He will always hold a place in my heart and in the hearts of my family."

Sadly, the Libertarian heart apparently does not include health care. The poor guy raised tens of millions of dollars and couldn't afford the $300-$600 a month that COBRA medical insurance would have cost.

1. That wins Paul the Heartless Bastard of the Century Award
No, the next 89 years can't possibly top that. You'd think he'd at least have gotten his prescription pad out (you know there's got to be at least one in his desk for his own emergency sleeping pills and limp willie pills) and written the guy a scrip for antibiotics before that nasty cough got any worse. But NO, our Heartless Bastard just watched his most loyal servant die of something he could have cured early with 5 lousy minutes of his time and a little ink on a piece of paper.

What a monumental, reeking asshole.

2. As crazy as this season has already been, it's only a matter of time..
before some some teabagging fool would claim that this method of dealing with seriously ill people is actually a "job creator" since the dead person's job is now available.

7. I'm fairly certain that paul wouldn't give this a second thought
The very core of his beliefs is survival of the fittest. That soul wasn't fit health or money-wise.

8. Well I knew Ron Paul was nutters, I still didn't expect it at this level...
Just horrible. At the very least he could have offered to pay for his medication.

9. That old miser uses that libertarian hogwash to obscure the fact
that he is nothing but and old fashioned greedy bastard, just like the rest of the libertarian assholes.
