Chinese man has an eel enter his penis, then bladder after spa treatment
A Chinese man thought he would look years younger after bathing with live eels in a spa treatment designed to remove dead skin. Instead, one of the eels meant to eat the man's dead skin cells decided to enter his penis through the urethra.

Yes, it swam up his penis and into his bladder.

According to Metro.co, Zhang Nan, 56, tried to grab the six-inch eel before it could swim all the way up inside him, but the eel was too slippery for him. From the story:

'I climbed into the bath and I could feel the eels nibbling my body. But then suddenly I felt a severe pain and realised a small eel had gone into the end of my penis,' the 56-year-old from Honghu, Hubei province said.

'I tried to hold it and take it out, but the eel was too slippery to be held and it disappeared up my penis.'

39. That's not so bad
As you can understand, I had the 'pleasure' at least 5 times that I can think of off the top of my head.

Worse was the naso-endo-trachial tube (memory's rusty, but I think that's what they called the feeding tube). I even pulled it out myself once (and managed to convince them to reverse the doc's order to re-insert it).

Worse yet was the anesthesia tube inserted into the lung through the nose. It's preceded by an injection in the throat with what looks like a horse syringe and the coating of the nostril with some kind of cocaine paste, iirc.

As you know, catheterization is a routine and common hospital procedure, and it's really not so bad. Especially compared to the eel it may be chasing, in some cases! :)

46. Cremaster Reflex! Like I said it is a male thing.

Protecting the testes
Although the testes are happiest in the slightly cooler temperature in the scrotum, this is a vulnerable position. They are not very well protected here. So the cremaster reflex probably developed as a way of quickly pulling the testes out of harm’s way. Men often experience a contraction in the scrotum when experiencing sudden danger, or even hearing about gory accidents. There was some correspondence in the New Scientist magazine about this a few years ago. One man described contractions in the scrotum when driving at night in his low-slung sports care whenever a large rock loomed ahead. I have also read that Sumo wrestlers can train themselves to draw their testes up for protection during competition, but I do not know if this is true.

The cremaster reflex can also protect the testes from over-cooling, by drawing the testes upwards into the cosy groin if the environment becomes too cold. Doctors reported a case of a 25-year-old-man who repaired fridges. He had pain in his testes whenever he worked inside large ‘walk-in’ refrigerators. The doctors found he had an unusually powerful cremaster reflex.

65. I wasn't exactly thinking catheters...
I was thinking 7 lb babies exiting a tube normally about five times narrower than the baby itself.

:scared:

An aside...my MIL, while here and bedridden, had to have a catheter inserted. One morning I went to empty the bag and noticed there was nothing in it. What the....????

Well. During the night, she had somehow managed to pull the catheter out. You know...with the bulb thing on the end and all, that's meant to keep it from being pulled out.

I still cringe thinking of it.

73. Ouch!!!
At the age of five, my daughter had to have a catheter inserted as part of a test related to her diabetes. She was normally quite stoic, but she was hysterical during that. I was completely freaked out, too, knowing how painful it is.

As far as childbirth, I liken it to trying to pass a bowling ball.

17. He'll probably need surgery, actually.
Urine is sterile until it leaves the body, but if you introduce a living thing- carrying its own bacteria, by the way- into the bladder... well, I imagine Bad Things follow if it's not immediately removed.

It swims up the urethra and deploys spines to keep itself in place.

This is on the order of brain parasites and other Monsters Inside Me (a show I will not ever in my lifetime voluntarily watch).
