Miami Herald: Will Rick Perry’s political stock plunge over his immigration stance?
A darling of the tea party, Rick Perry could lose some Republican support for his positions on an Arizona-style immigration law, tuition help for some illegal immigrants and his opposition to a border fence.

Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry had the tea party crowd on his side at Monday night’s debate, only to get booed when he espoused moderate-sounding positions on immigration.

Now the Texas governor is in a target of some immigration hardliners for voicing opposition to a border fence and defending a bill he signed that could help some illegal immigrants receive in-state tuition.

"Perry was the first GOP candidate that the crowd booed tonight, and they started to boo as he rationalized his support for in-state tuition for illegal aliens," William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration Public Action Committee said in a written statement. "We are about to see what we will call the ’Perry Plunge’ in the polls,” Gheen said, citing a survey from Rasmussen Reports that showed 81 percent of Americans oppose tuition subsidies for illegal immigrants.

1. No. Because in the fact-free world
that is Republicstan, his hair-do is more important.

4. Really? Why?
A couple of his views are pretty damn unpopular, but I would have thought that they would forgive/overlook. Anything to make Obama a one term guy.

5. While the hard core nuts on the right wing will hold on like grim death
I think cement head perrys inflammatory rhetoric will catch up to him.

people want answers and when he tries to continue with more and more hyperbole, it will backfire on him big time.

7. Having had him as my illustrious governor for these many years...
his brand of bullshit plays very well to the chorus, but to people who need jobs, food and a home, it will fall on deaf ears.

8. I think Rick will fade regardless.
He is not the establishment's pick, and they will destroy him. He is not close to the Bush crime family which has its fingers in everything. He is not in the mold of McCain and Dole. Romney will end up being the choice because he has built a ground game over the last decade, paid his way. Either candidate bodes well for Obama.
