The National Enquirer reports that in the book “The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin” – due to be released Tuesday – the former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate had a fling with former University of Michigan basketball player Glen Rice.

As the story goes, each was single at the time, back in 1987 when Palin was a sports reporter for the Anchorage TV station KTUU and Rice played for the Wolverines, who were in town for the Great Alaska Shootout basketball tournament. Palin would’ve been 23 at the time, Rice 20.

The book was written by Joe McGinniss. The Enquirer, in a story posted this morning, says that in the book McGinnis quotes Rice as confirming the report.
