Tweety asks Repub Congresslady, "Isn't this still George W Bush's economy?"

On yesterday's show, Marsha Blackburn, a dimbulb from TN, was asked by Chris Mathews if this was still not the Bush economy? Did we still not have the Bush taxcuts in place? She went on a long ramble and no one was permitted to interrupt her but she never answered the question.

He also asked if she did not have over a 100 bridges in her district that were below standard? She never responded directly to that number either.

But, on further thought, this is Bush's economy. Barack Obama has done very little different, economy-wise, from what Bush had done. Even the Bush taxcuts are still in effect. And the Repubs have blocked everything or cut it to the point of insignificance that it is dishonest to call this Obama's economy. However, he is stuck with what they have given him. He gets the blame whether it is due or not.

6. No this is the Obama economy

The Bush* tax cuts expired over a year ago and under Obama they were extended.. The "wars" have been expanded, the Defense Budget has been enlarged since Bush*. Gitmo is still in operation and virtually nothing has been done to end Republican economic and foreign policies....This IS the Obama economy and Democrats need to own up to that FACT.

Obama tried, was blocked each time on every front. How would you have done it?

We are still living with Bush policies and until we have a super majority in the House and the Senate it will remain.

What did he campaign on, and why did he want to become President if he could not do anything? No I am not buying that it is all Republican's fault here...Obama did not have to acquiesce to their constant demands..All he had to do was nothing and those tax cuts would have expired but that would have been too confrontational for him..

But that is exactly what he should have done. He surrendered the Bush taxcuts for two more years so he could get the unemployment benefits for those that needed them. I am of the belief that the Democrats would have kept the House if they had let the Bush taxcuts expire and then have fought the Repubs to extend the unemployment benefits. But that is now water under the bridge...

10. It is unfortunate, but Obama drew a bad hand on the economy.

Even so, I agree, it's all his now...for Presidents always get the blame, or as the case may be, the credit, for the economy.

However, to the knowing observer, it is abundantly clear that Congress has far more power to effect the economy than does the President.

8. Been making that exact point for months now. There's been NO significant change to economic policy

for the last 3 years, as GOP has SUCCESSFULLY BLOCKED every Dem policy fix the entire time. We are STILL living under Bush's economic policies for the most part, and too many Democrats are scared to point it out, mainly because they KNOW how weak it makes them (and the WH) look.

WH spokespeople like to ACT like they're tough on camera, though. Obama is NOT well-served by ANY of them. Neither are the American people.
