There's another message in here, imho, beyond how the smallest of acts can shift lives for the better.

I've heard so many stories of people who are homeless and others who are literally scraping by giving their last dollar to help another, or finding lots of money and turning it in to the authorities, intact.

They do it because it's the right thing to do, the human thing to do. They didn't require a write-off.
