2012 Election: New Slogan for Activists
Edited on Thu Sep-15-11 09:04 AM by MineralMan
We Can Do It!

This is my slogan for the 2012 election, which started last week, as far as I'm concerned. What can we do? We can get out and get people to turn out and vote for Democratic legislators, both at the federal and state levels. We can take back Congress and our state legislatures. We can do it. We can reverse the ugly trend that started in 2010.

We truly can do it. But only if we're willing to put aside our squabbling and get out there in numbers and tell individual voters why electing Democrats is the most important thing we can do in the 2012 election. That's what we can do. If we're willing to do that.

That's my pledge. I'll be working as hard as I can manage, starting now, to get every Democrat I can reach to help and to go to the polls and vote for the Democrat for every legislative position. I'll also be working in Minnesota's caucus and convention system to help select the best possible Democratic candidates to run for office.

Election 2012 starts now. We Can Do It!

1. Just heard the Republican slogan: Where Are The Jobs?!!!
How do we answer that one?

We had better hope the economy is nowhere like it is now in September of 2012 or we are royally screwed. We could get the Democrats out to vote, but the independents are going to kick our collective asses.

3. So we shouldn't bother? Really?
I refuse to accept inaction as an answer. I'll be out there. Thanks for the response.

8. I didn't say that, did I? We do need better than clever slogans.
I'm still looking for the change I can count on from 2008. I am very, very cynical about slogans now.

We had better have better answers to the accusations that it is our fault than, "no, it's your fault".

No, if we're going to go down we may as well go down fighting. But I'm under no illusion if things are not much better in the economy a year from now that any slogan will overcome that.

10. Did you even read my post? That's a slogan for
us to use to encourage people to go get people to vote. It's not a campaign slogan for any candidate.

It's a call to action on the part of activists, not a candidate slogan. Either you're willing to get out there and work on turnout and convincing people to vote for Democrats or you're not. If you're not, then you're irrelevant, to be quite frank, to the 2012 election.

4. You answer that by putting the blame where it belongs - on
the Republicans. As for the independents, I'll be talking to them, too, as I hope everyone will.

5. "Where are the jobs?" was Boehner's chant for 2 years, let's ask him.
Where's his jobs proposal?

6. Well since they are state rights advocates, I'd like to ask my GOP Gov Kasich
Where are the jobs?

7. Liberals don't believe in WE. They want Obama to do it all himself.
Every quarterback has a defensive line to provide him cover so he can make the plays...except President Obama. His defensive line of liberals decided to bench themselves then complain about not getting any touchdowns.

9. Too often quarterback Obama seems to believe the best strategy is to retreat 5 yards & take a knee
as a compromise to moving down field. Not exactly the best way to get your agenda over the goal line.

Continuing will the football analogy, how about a quarterback without a good line who scrambles and manages to make plays when there is little there? A quarterback who is a fighter and will do whatever he can to move forward? I've watched football for decades and I've seen that kind of quarterback drive defenses crazy and I've seen that kind of quarterback get wins when the other kind is flat on his back behind the line.

Aren't football analogies fun?

11. I'm not that concerned with the naysayers, really.
It's the people who will get out and help with this election who I care about. The slogan is a call to action.

12. Well Obama certainly doesn't believe in liberal policies. So what is this "we" you refer to?
