Earlier this week eight members of the House Oversight Committee urged Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) to listen to repeated requests that he investigate Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.1

Rep. Issa’s response? To go on Murdoch’s Fox News Channel and say that he wasn’t going to do anything.2

Don’t let Rep. Issa sweep the Murdoch scandal under the rug. Sign this letter urging an investigation.

The Rupert Murdoch scandal won’t go away, no matter how hard some try to bury it.

News Corp. has been implicated in the bribery of foreign law enforcement officials, the hacking of Sept. 11 victims’ phone lines, the cover-up of an Internet hacking scandal in the U.S. and numerous other offenses.

Rep. Issa’s Oversight and Government Reform Committee is charged with protecting the interests of U.S. citizens against the illegal actions of corporations, regardless of their political leanings.

By taking action against Rep. Issa you’re joining the more than 200,000 people who have rejected Fox News Channel’s drive to cover up allegations that News Corp. broke U.S. laws. The Wall Street Journal and New York Post, also owned by Murdoch, are playing their part to bury the allegations, urging the American public to "move on."

This is how Murdoch works. He wields his enormous media power to place himself and fellow News Corp. executives above the law.

We can’t let him bury the News Corp. scandal and silence those in Congress seeking a thorough inquiry. We need to place pressure on Rep. Issa to stop the cover-up:

Murdoch and his colleagues must go under the lights and before the cameras in Congress. That won't happen unless you join our call for a full congressional investigation.

MSNBC did a story recently about how fast Murdoch got his US citizenship in 1985, and how his licenses to buy U.S. television stations were illegally approved before his citizenship had been granted:

What was the quid pro quo for this?

It sure smells like using his empire to support Bush, who chaired a committee on regulatory relief in the Reagan administration, was the quid pro quo here.

And it is just a coincidence that Bush's biggest rival for the presidency got smeared in '87?

6. An out of control media and congress

We the people(citizens)aka dupes need to stop,think and take action,men like Murdock and Issa think they are above the law and will continue their beliefs if they are not brought before the bar of justice.

8. Really, it is the executive branch which must inforce wire tapping and hacking laws.

When these crimes are not prosecuted the victims may not know what happened, or have a very difficult time proving their cases.

The scandal is if there has been a quid pro quo, i.e., the executive branch won't prosecute because Murdoch has been doing its bidding with regard to its political rivals.

won't start until spring 2013 earliest.

Until then best just deal with the fact that nobody been found guilty of any criminal offences.

23. Yes, he can investigate criminal matters, but the larger issue is cronyism between Murdoch and GOP.

If there is a criminal investigation going on, then Congress doesn't want to interfere in the investigation. However, parts of that are beyond the statue of limitation, i.e., what did Murdoch do in exchange for Poppy Bush approving his purchase of U.S. T.V. stations before he became a U.S. citizen?

Really, we should want to know that.
