It's Simple, Really... Are You On The Side Of Working People, The Elderly, Students, Kids, Soldiers
Women, GLBT, Minorities, Physically and Mentally Challenged Folks...

Am I forgetting anybody???

And BTW... If you lift up the "least" of us... you lift us all.

Win/Win

1. How is that simple?
That's an awful lot of sides. You think all of those groups are on the same side?

16. How is that?
Poverty for the elderly has hit a record low at the same time poverty for children is at a record high. Even Perty says that people over 55 will still get their Social Security. It is only people under 55 that he/they are planning to put through a woodchipper.

You put women on your list, as though men face no poverty or privation. So I guess I am supposed to be on the side of Oprah, Condoleeza Rice, and Michelle Bachman as well as on the side of working people.

I am not even sure what that means.

Two of them are minorities and one is mentally disabled, so I guess I am supposed to be on their side again. Somehow.

Another example is that poorer people got screwed by the Bush tax cut 'compromise' but I am told we should be happy, because after all, it was that screwing that allowed Obama to end DADT. So I guess working people got put on the bus behind GLBT who want to be part of the war machine, er, I mean serve their country.

Which is kind of my point. Instead of breaking up into various groups - like women, minorities, GLBT, disabled, seniors, etc. Why not just be on the side of "people that the corporate rich are feeding into the woodchupper" or perhaps to make it a little bit less dramatic - the bottom 80%. Then we have one basic goal - to stop being robbed, exploited, abused, and lied to by the corporate rich.

and middle class and seniors and students and a whole host of others who NEED US! You are either with them or not.

17. why do you think that students and seniors need us?
John McCain is a senior and so is George H.W. Bush. They certainly do not need any financial help. The same is true closer to home. My parents are seniors, and also do not need financial help. They are vacationing while I work. My supervisor is retiring in a few weeks. Even if I step into his job, he will be making more money for not working than I will for working.

Then there's students. Certainly there are some rich kids going to school who will get very good jobs when they get out. Again, close to home I am annoyed by my niece who could have gotten free tuition at one school, but chose instead to take on $30,000 in student loan debt.

Again though, when you start dividing people into groups those groups will conflict and even a party that claims to represent all of those groups will still have to prioritize. Because everything cannot be done at once. Plus, it seems like you are dividing us, that only some people are gonna get help. Not all the poor, just the seniors and kids and minorities and women. Middle aged white guys are told YOYO - You're On Your Own.

7. And regular white folk with compassion for humankind.
I'm not one, but there are so many good ones. I'm with them too!

I'm on the side of all of the above. But the Dem party's tent has gotten so big, it will embrace every manner of moderate/centrist and many small-gov't corporatists too. Because the Repubs have basically become the Tea Party, science denying, Milton Friedman, and big-gov't in your bedroom moralizing party, there's no where else for sane and fair minded moderates and old-fashioned conservatives to go. And that's why we Dems are always playing Family Feud.
