2. It was so tiny!
He should be inside with Mom still...maybe he's just too adventurous.

10. I'm so glad they convinced them to get him back to his dog-mommy
He was WAY to young to have been separated from his dog-mommy. You can definitely tell that little boy really loves him already and wants to do what's best for him. I hope they spend many many years together as bestest friends.

Chows and Akitas are just the most adorable pups... little fuzz balls of love.

12. I agree...but it concerns me about the people who let the puppy leave
the mother...that puppy was way too young...but I agree the kid really loves the puppy and he'll have a good life...once he's ready.

13. It concerns me too
But it's too late now. Anyone doing backyard breeding of mixes doesn't know what they're doing. That's why I leave dog breeding up to the experts who do. This puppy should never have been allowed to leave it's mother or be handled so much or going about outside since it's not even old enough to have had it's protective shot series. The early weeks of a dog's life are the most important ones and not doing it right can have serious ramifications down the road.

I'm glad the kid only had the puppy for a day or two and that the animal control officers explained the need for the pup to be with its dog-mommy and that they agreed. I hope they also explained this and other important information to the people that bred the dog (or more likely, allowed their dog to indiscriminately breed). Hopefully now the people that bred the dog will try doing things right and give this pup a better chance at a healthy life.

I hope this incident and the boy's obvious love for the pup will encourage the boy and his family to learn about what is needed in the proper care and training of the pup for his future. They seem like good people that want to do what's best but just didn't know or think that they needed to learn anything, but they seem open to and interested in learning, so that's really good. All in all, maybe this incident was a strange blessing in disguise as now the pup is back with its dog-mommy and hopefully both the families are learning and doing things better now.

14. One good thing is this video is showing up in a lot of places know...
a round-about way of educating people about the needs you mention!

16. I noticed that too
Unfortunately, I did notice one place that had the video but they cut out all the bits about the pup's age and the animal control officers convincing them to have the pup go back to its dog-mommy until it's old enough. That really pissed me off because that's really the most important part of the story.
