Old, selfish parents Gabriella and Luigi De Ambrosis to lose daughter - Turin court
This headline caught my eye. Excerpt and link, below.

"A COURT in Italy has ruled that the 70 and 57-year old parents of a toddler are "told old'' and selfish to raise her.

The court recommended the child be put up for adoption, Italian media reported today.

The 18-month old girl, known as "Viola", was conceived with the help of artificial insemination after the couple's repeated applications to adopt a child were turned down on the basis that they were too old."

1. Too Old?
My parents are raising my sisters kids and older. Funny no one says they are too old.

2. They did leave their baby in a car unattented "for a few minutes"
Still, I have to wonder what might've been the motive of the person who reported them.

5. Lots of families like that today. We are considering taking our grand
children from on grandson if he gets in trouble again. On the other hand I hate to see parental rights severed that easily. Notice that once again we have a fertility doctor who did not think of this in the first place.

3. Age discrimination.
If the child had been the child of their child, and their son/daughter died before the child was 18, they'd be allowed to take that child into their home and raise him/her as a grandchild.

Seems that the Italian courts and government are determined that "old" people cannot create their own child and/or adopt.
