1. Note the 5 poorest states have historically been ruled (governed)
by Republicans--long long history of Conservative
Rule.

That Conservative Economic Fundamentalism is illustrated
in spades.

Now the Republicans aim to bring it National.
Lowest in Education, Highest in Poverty, Lower Income
thus lower standard of Living.

Push your panic button and get out to elect Democrats.
If you can find real Democrats run them and support them.
I am not being mean-spirited--but Folks, where our Centrist
Blue Dogs hail from. Yep most often Red States--Conservative
Economic Fundamentalism.

2. How can some of these median incomes be accurate.
Edited on Fri Sep-16-11 04:35 PM by OHdem10
Police, Teachers, Firefighters in these states
do not make these type salaries.

I realize Median means one half the people of the states above the
Median and one half the state makes below the stated Median Income.

There have been corruption problems especially in Police
Forces because they earn such low salaries. Louisiana and
West Virginia have had national stories on this topic.

3. NOLA police pay is so notoriously bad
that out-of-state departments routinely come down there to recruit. NOLA officers are particularly prized for their experience in crowd control (think Mardi Gras).

4. Maybe they are household incomes
. . . rather than individual incomes.

5. It appears you are correct.
The article is a little vague on the point, but it seems they do mean "median household income" not "median individual income".
