...of interviewers to try to put words in former President Clinton's mouth to try to support Republican talking points. For example, on CBS, Bill Clinton was talking in support of President Obama's job Act, and the need to pass that right now, rather than emphasizing immediate deficit reduction, and how we should talk about deficit reduction over the long term, then Bob Schieffer says, "So, it sounds like you are saying that we should not raising taxes on anybody right now," which Clinton did not say! So, Clinton responded nicely by saying that what President Obama is suggesting is pretty modest in terms of returning tax rates to the Clinton era rates when the economy grew quite nicely.
Then, Bob Schieffer repeated a quote from Dick Cheney saying that Hillary Clinton is the best member of the Obama administration, and that she would be a better president. Bill then laughed, and agreed that Hillary is awesome, but said that Dick is just being politician and trying sow discord among the Democrats.
The question, of course, is the corporate media spin that will be given to Bill Clinton's supportive comments, and the degree to which the American public will buy this spin. I remember Al Gore's article in Rolling Stone, which largely supported President Obama, and bashed on the corporate media, turned into an attack piece by Gore on Obama with members of DU ignoring Al Gore's actual article, and instead citing to articles misrepresenting Gore's article.
So, wait for the headlines tommorrow regarding Bill Clinton's interviews. Sometimes, up seems to be down with our corporate propaganda that masquerades as news.
