And as for the Don't Put My Flag on Your Foreign Car one, a lot of cars with American brands are made overseas, and a lot with Foreign brands are made here. So unless you check the VIN number, you can't know.

If it had not been for the Germans and the Japanese we'd still be driving crap that barely lasts 50,000. I recall all too clearly when the odometer only had 5 digits on it, because it just wasn't expected for any car to go more than that. Those who could afford to do so bought a new car every two years, because after two years they'd seen their best days.

Nonsense. Some people (about a third of the country) like the direction we take it. Others (another third or so) really hate it when we go in that direction. Their standards and ours are different.

That is so negative and discouraging that it boggles the mind. Are you going to take that position into the election cycle? It can only hurt.

Thus "us versus them" nonsense is a product of cable TV and right wing propaganda. It is used to divide and conquer us, and to cripple the Democratic party.

The battle lines in the country are drawn between the haves and the have-nots, and not between the two political parties. Fight for the have-nots and you will discover that 80% or more of the general public "share our values" and have the "same standards."

There is indeed a game that if you don't play it, will keep you from getting into the race.

We had a Democratic candidate once who insisted she do things strictly "her way" and he campaign manager thought that was just great. I attended one of her campaign stops where she addressed an older conservative crowd. She was wearing thick wool socks with sandals, a long peasant skirt and a thick wool sweater. I don't think anyone heard much of what she had said because her appearance stopped everyone at hello.
She didn't get very many votes because no one took her seriously.
That's just the way it is.
