Cenk Uygur joining Current TV

Cenk Uygur and Al Gore announced this week that The Young Turks were taking their talents to Current TV.

The show will air weeknights in the 7 p.m. ET hour prior to Countdown with Keith Olbermann. It is expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2011.

After leaving MSNBC in July, Uygur explained that the network “didn’t want to challenge power.”

“We want you to keep on speaking truth to power,” Current TV founder Al Gore told Uygur in a video posted on the network’s website. “You’re on a truly independent network now.”

3. I sure wish they would make it easier to see for those of us who use internet tv, than

traditional cable. We used to be able the watch it on ROKU, roku.com, but then they took it off. Looks like if you're not on Comcast or one of the others, you can't watch it except huddled on a PC. Many have complained to Current TV, but they don't listen.

I don't think that Current TV would chose to limit the scope of their exposure voluntarily. You need to contact Roku and/or your cable provider and ask why it's not available.

9. This area is soooooooo republican, I can see why the local cable doesn't carry it ... but

Current TV has limited streaming on the Internet. Initially they were streaming KO and then stopped. I contacted Current TV and they said they did not want it streaming on the Internet, but would only provide snippets of the shows. That said, there are still some sites streaming KO on the Internet, but they seem to vary.

The only thing I can think of, and Current TV would not say, is that their deal with the large cable companies gives them the exclusive rights, IMO, to try to force people onto their cable distribution to get Current TV in areas where offered.

5. Current was on a cable package which I wanted;had to cancel it because Cur. moved to "God package".

Makes no sense. Those people who listen to that material ain't going to watch Olbermann or Cenk.

Well, that passed quickly. From 'the won't let us have it' to 'we don't actually want it much'. Point is, the cable and sat providers and other outlets such as the roku devices are profit making companies, they hope, and they sell that which people ASK to buy.
Did you ask the people who get your Roku fee why they cut Current? I bet not.

10. See post #9. Actually, the way ROKU works is there is no fee. It's an internet

tuner, sort of, but with Current TV you still got all of the commercials, etc., the same as if you were watching it on regular cable. In my post #9, I said I think it has more to do with exclusivity to cable providers, anyway, that's my guess.
