6. I am torn, two very good candidates in the Warrens.
I am leaning toward Setti Warren, but would be proud to vote for Elizabeth in the general if she wins. Regardless, we will put a fighter up against Brown this time around.

11. Why is that worthless?
Edited on Tue Sep-20-11 08:03 PM by karynnj
First off, these percents are not as far off as you obviously think.

Here is a link to that distribution in 2008. http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/elepdf/st_county_town_enroll_breakdown_08.pdf (Note the fact that 2008 was a big Democratic year likely did not change the percents much.

Note that there was a LOWER % Republican in these actual numbers.

Not to mention, the PPP polling last June was done the same way and you likely didn't complain - as Brown was winning.

15. From the numbers, the question very likely was understood properly
Edited on Wed Sep-21-11 07:08 AM by karynnj
I do agree that they could have posed the question better using the word registered and saying "unenrolled" rather than independent.

Not to mention, the polls from last December and June were done with the same template. Therefore they can be compared. In that series, you see two strong trends - his favorables are sinking quickly - and his unfavorables are rising. (The latter lagged the former.) The two earlier polls were both consistent with other polls at the time.

Clearly Brown is losing support, in spite of the fact that even the so called liberal Boston Globe has fawned over him.

8. Only 2 pts Ahead?
In what's supposedly the most liberal state in the country? She ought to be ahead by 30 pts. I don't know what they've been putting in the water in Mass., but I will never, ever understand how they could elect a tea party-backed unknown to replace Ted Kennedy over the most popular elected official in the state.

And just ten months later, they re-elected Martha Coakley as Atty General by a 74% to 26% margin. Go figure.

16. Because Martha ran a lousy campaign, she coasted
She figured, like you, that MA was going to elect her by default. Meanwhile, Brown rented a pickup truck and shook hands with the 'regular folk' and pretended to be an Independent, something Massachusetts has a lot of (including me). Plus he had more campaign experience.

On the other hand, I've already donated to Elizabeth Warren, I have a good feeling about her.
