For all of you hearing about this table that they use

to asses. not just Gabby, but any neurological patient. They are using the Glasgow Coma Scale.

This is one of those that I became very conversant with as a medic.



This is just a tool, but when the docs tell you she is doing better without getting technical.... this is what they are talking about.

I offer this just as education... Suffice it to say... yes... without access to case data, or anything like that... she is recovering well. It bodes well for her future, in fact.

Oh and to me personally it is not a miracle, but a combo of a lot of things... including extremely good medicine. But if you believe in a god, this may very well qualify as one. I had a similar conversation with a family who's son was involved in a massive car wreck with massive head injuries... and almost a year after he has done an amazing recovery, one that to borrow the words from one of Gabby's docs. he had no right to have. (Yes it was even more massive than hers)

5. The doctor pretty much told my parents it was a medical miracle; my blood glucose was

over 1000--this was in the days before the symptoms were well-known and I had a doc's appointment that day so mom wasn't too concerned until she couldn't rouse me to get ready. Got to doc's and he said to go straight to ER--they were waiting for me outside with IV insulin.

Extension when the body is literally going into tippy toes

Flexion when the limbs, are flexed inwards.

You really do not want to see that in the field or in the hospital setting.

9. I used to work in ICU....

We used that chart All. The. Time.

Plus we'd check the pupils to see if they were equal in size and equally reactive.

You can tell so much from these fairly simple tests.
