New Facebook: 6 Things you Need to Know
New Facebook: 6 Things you Need to Know
Fellow Lujurian, Kevin McNulty, here to talk you down off the proverbial ledge here.
Some freaky stuff happened over night to your Facebook profile, and you may be starting to twitch a little about this time.
So far, for each of the following Facebook changes announced on their blog, about 20, 000 people have posted responses complaining about the changes. That sounds like a lot until I tell you that 748,980,000 people didn’t complain. In other words, it’s this all over again.
So here’s your quick and easy guide so you can catch up with Facebook and get on with your day. Click “Click to Continue” to get updated in under 5 minutes…
1. Top Stories and Most Recent now in one News Feed

Facebook’s own blog summed up this change nicely: “When you visit Facebook, you should see the things you’re most interested in…” So they are trying to make sure you do by ditching the old Two-Option News Feed, which made you choose either Top Stories (popular stuff in order of popularity) or Most Recent (chronological order).
...snip...

1. Thanks! I already HAD gone bleary eyed this AM when I looked at my page.
Now I don't have to panic.

3. It all depends on how you use Facebook, I think.
Personally, I use it exclusively to keep in touch with people. I never "like" any business accounts or anything like that. What I see on my home page is almost exactly as it has been for a very long time.

Some of my friends on Facebook play games and join things. When those appear, I hide posts that deal with those things, but not the member. If a member persists in posting annoying things, I hide the member. My Facebook does just what I want it to do, and nothing more. I check my settings whenever there's a change, and adjust them to keep Facebook showing me just what I want.

Facebook is owned by someone. It is what that someone wants it to be. I can manipulate it to be what I want it to be, so that's what I do. If I couldn't do that, I'd leave.
